Except the coke ad.

Yeah, this is America. Where we speak "American" and the really lucky ones speak "Texan".

I was a little taken aback by the coke ad. What were they trying to say??????

Yep, I was a bit taken back by that Coke ad too, all the news people are singing its praises for "our diversity", kumbaya and all that stuff. What other country is glad to be changed to that point?

My fav, was the one with no words at all, the bud commercial, well done.

Rain is moving out, will check the gauge at daylight, but never heard a drop overnight? I see a couple days this week forecasted to be highs in the 20's!!! Guess I will have to cut more wet oak:mur:

I think you folks are being a little tough on Coke. There is not a more universally American product that is sold around the world. Besides, no matter what language, they were all singing America The Beautiful. Just remember that commercials are not about anything but selling product. Like it or not, Coke's customers are not all English speaking Americans, but the dollars spent are greenbacks and end up at the corporate offices in Atlanta, Georgia. Coke has made many commercials with people from all over the world. They have universal appeal, world-over. Now, if they had Glen Beck spewing his version of of things, I'd bet they wouldn't sell nearly as much product, maybe even end up like Billy Beer.:D

I understand what Coke was trying to say, but they were marketing IN the USA, with that ad. Makes me glad that I don't drink soft drinks, as Coke was my choice over Pepsi, but that ad was a complete turn off for me, and I would have had to stop buying it, after that, anyway. Good thing I am only seeing/hearing about it, after the fact.

Press 1 for English, anyone?

Coke surely could not advertise health and everyone already knows what Coke taste like. So their advertising was trying to be a feel good commercial, not unlike the Budweiser commercial. We are an assimilation.

'Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated'

Coke should have stuck to non controversial animals but I guess they played out their polar bear.

Jim, you're probably right, we should be more upset about the poison they are selling to the world!!:D (same would apply to any soft drink)

I agree with FG, use the foreign language for foreign markets, but then, I'm not a stock holder:stirthepot::D

Copied fromthe LA Times: Just another reason I didn't like it.

""Michael Patrick Leahy at Breitbart.com also took issue with the inclusion of a gay couple in the ad, writing, "When the company used such an iconic song, one often sung in churches on the 4th of July that represents the old 'E Pluribus Unum' view of how American society is integrated, to push multiculturalism down our throats, it's no wonder conservatives were outraged."
