You lucky dog you, you have the good gene. That sounds like the exact same diet as my Grandpa but the genes were not in his favor and there were no routine by-passes and stents in his day - and that was just in the 60's (Of course at 29 you are a lot younger.)
If I could not do the plant based diet I would definitely at least do organic meat, (not that it would help me at this point) I just can't believe all the stuff allowed by law used to contaminate the animals and I have a field of organic beef right outside the yard fence. The readers digest has an article this month and gets into this very topic.

Do people actually pay more for organic calves? Out here they just get auctioned off and are mixed in with the other calves and then are probably kept in feed lots for a few months loosing all their organics.

TXDon; I hope that I have the gene where I am walking and talking one minute and dead the next! That's how I want to go. However that happens, and at age 30, or 70, or 100, it will be fine with me, as long as I don't linger. That would be the "lucky gene".

Yes, organic beef is more expensive around here. They don't always get run at auction, so bring more. A couple of the slaughter houses have contacts for organic, and when they get enough demand, they buy whatever is needed, slaughter it humanely, (which is also important), and have it available. I guess some get run at auction, and sell like the others.

The stress hormones, growth hormones, and GMO crops are the problem, not the animal products. And Kosher slaughtering is the most inhumane, IMO, that's why they have to have exemption from the humane acts to do it.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers y'all, had I been awake and thinking I would have posted in the family place.

They found 2 blockages, both 60%, but due to the location (at vein junctions) they felt it best to attack it with Diet, exercise and mainly a focus on stress (along with some meds) This is their 1st idea and re-evaluate in 6 months.

They showed me the film, showing the blockages using the dyes, both effect the right side, so she will continue to get tire and will have to work on her stamina.

Got kinda "quite" sitting there from 11am -5pm being the only family in town. She is to be discharged around 7pm, and some friends from church, are taking her to their house since she already had turned off her utilities to go on her trip.

Positive thing is she now knows what is wrong and has a good grasp on how to deal with it, we'll see.

Again thanks for the thoughts, kind of "blind sided" me this morning, but the call could have been much worse I suppose. Still scary when she's the only "mama" I got! The wife already told me (many times) "I aint you're mother"

Think I'll go pass out now.

Zello update ... I've been using it everyday .. I've now got 14 friends on my channel list ... I give it a 9.5 out of 10 .., sometimes a little garbled .. My USCG son had been in Cuba and we've been communicating daily .., just talked to him and he's now back in Miami ... What they used to say ... "Try it you'll like it" !!

Bird, If the taxes go down right after you freeze them can you unfreeze them for a year to lock in the lower rate? A couple of years ago our taxes actually decreased a bit.

TXDON;

Taxes going down? Don't see that happening anywhere.

Western:

Happy to hear that they did not need to do anything invasive. Thoughts and prayers for your mother and you that things continue to go your way.

There is lots she can do on the diet side to help with the blockages. Pomegranate juice has been shown to remove bad stuff from arteries. I've attached a WebMD article, but there are plenty of others that bear this out.

Pomegranate Power

There are some other super foods as well that can help. It's a completely doable thing if she minds her diet and does a little walking or other exercise. Nothing extreme. Make some tweaks, and get moving in the right direction.

TxDon can probably give better advice than most here, as he really has a handle on healthy lifestyle. (and I envy him for it!)

Good luck with all of this.

Dennis, the best advice I can give you is to buy and read Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell B Esselstyn, Jr. M.D. Then give it to your Mother.

Dr. Baxter Montgomery has the same content and is getting the same results. He is a Cardiologist in Houston and really got interested in the diet part after his own mother died. His patients are a testament that heart disease can be reversed. Reversing Heart Disease |

The Century study, which I am a part of in Houston, has the same basic diet and with close to 600 participants that now is in its 5th year. The patients that adhere to the diet are showing the reversal also. They are very excited about it.

It can be done, it is not easy, you have to go one step higher than the AHA to get results, especially after just 6 months. She will need the family's support.
Our prayer will be for the willpower needed to adjust to these changes to reverse her heart disease.

edit: Dennis, If you can attend the lecture by Dr. Baxter Montgomery this weekend in Marshall Tx You would get so much good information from the cardiologist himself. And he will even answer questions. I have visited him at his office/restaurant in Houston and also heard him speak in Austin.
