Because the open flames bring extra moisture into the home that will ruin the particle board.

Kyle why wouldn't an outside air vent that goes directly to a wood burning stove (a closed air system) not be allowed? That is what I have and the humidity level is not a problem. It is also a lot warmer since the flames do not suck in cold outside air into the house.

Thanks Don, I will opt for the more in-depth test then, if given the option. Cant fix it if ya don't know its broke! I know when Mom was in the cath lab, they used a heart stimulant while she was in "twilight" along with the dye. The stress test in the Doctors office, I guess just made them "suspicious".

Not sure about all the dynamics of it, but our warranty stated no gas stove, water heater, etc. There are different wood burning stoves that are approved for mobile homes and they basically have double walls and most of the heat goes up the flume IIRC. Not near as much convection heating off the stove as a good old Ben Franklin stove.

Dennis,
I am so glad to hear your mom is not going to need surgery now.
It sounds like she, you, and your family are a good working team.
I went through all this with my mom and with me being an only child had a lot to learn and all the responsibility which I gladly accepted.

I will offer one caution.
Some people live on stress. I know you will be careful in your approach in reducing hers.
Sometimes the psychological effect of taking away things that people live for can have
a debilitating effect of its own. It sounds like she has always been a loving nurturing person
and this is a very important part of her being.
It's kinda like us guys when we have to go to our dad and convince him that it is time to
give up his car keys. Seems like a small logical step to us when we are in our 50's but to a man in his 70-80's
it can make them feel worthless and trapped.

Ron thanks and your 1000% right.

I told mother last night before I left, she has the information, she knows the drill, now it's up to her. We will be there, but ultimately she has to take steps to relax.

Kyle, what warranty? The Mobile home warranty?

We rented a double wide while living in Colorado and it was all gas. The one we have now since we didnt build, has a fireplace with a circulation fan built in. It does draw from a screened flue under the house. Maybe I missed the point, wouldn't be the 1st time:laughing: BTW, ours is double walled also on both sides (corner FP)

As I recall Brandi said the rotten floor in her trailer was a result of her son overfilling the bathtub. Nothing to do with heating or cooking systems.

I had a trailer in California way back in the 60's since I was a young officer with not enough rank to qualify for base housing. We cooled it
with a "Swamp cooler" as most other folks did in those days. The swamp cooler was a bunch of filters in a roof box in the hall that were constantly saturated with water and a fan sucked the water cooled air into the trailer. It did a great job and in those days trailers were skinned with metal and walled with cheap plywood paneling.

Don, I think the "vegan" lifestyle has a huge disadvantage in it can be a "false" sense of security. )

Unless the words no fat are accompanied by the word vegan all sorts of red flags go up for me. Hidden fat, artery clogging, endothelium damaging oils are everywhere and need to be avoided. Some of the vegan oils/fats are worse than animal fats. This is not saying animal fats are good they are bad also. Some of the Fake vegan foods are worse also. This is not saying animal foods are better they are bad also for people with heart disease. Some hidden really bad partially hydrogenated fats are in powdered coffee creamers and caned biscuits and rolls.

Western, have you read the labels on the items in you Moms pantry and refrigerator?

A really good nutritionist I found specifically for vegans to find the hidden culprits that contribute to heart disease is Jeff Novick.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXi998JX8YM

Here is a brief web page where that talks about unhealthy vegans from Caldwell Esselstyn's son Rip, part of the E2. Plant-Strong to Plant-Wrong: How to Ruin a Perfectly Healthy Meal (PLUS a Giveaway!) | The Engine 2 Diet

I know you are blaming stress as the #1 culprit in this situation and that sounds correct with the little I know, but keep an eye open for the foods that will cancel out her healthy vegan diet.

Dr. Esselstyn's quote of the day: "If you eat unhealthy foods in moderation you will have a moderate heat attack."

It was water from the front bathtub overflowing and was replaced when a crack developed at the drain..........and.......................condensation in the ducts while the air conditioner runs during the summer. My tub had a crack in it that I did not notice until I stepped in a corner while cleaning it. Particle board under toilets don't last long either. ABS tubs suck.

We always put a pot of water on top of our wood stove. I thought the fire in the wood stove took out moisture, thus the reason to put more moisture in the air by the pot of water????????
hugs, Brandi

Dennis,
Just caught up reading two days of posts here. So sorry to hear about your Mom, but glad to hear she can whip it without surgery. Prayers have been sent. Will she still be going on her trip?
hugs, Brandi
