Because the open flames bring extra moisture into the home that will ruin the particle board.

I also can't believe how dry we have been. My new ponds have about 3' or slightly more water in them. Trees are dying where the tops meet the trunks and snap off in the wind. Yesterday, my wife and I took a ride around the place, and there is lot's of dead-fall that needs cleaning up everywhere along the trails in the woods. I told her we should name our lake "Sadness" because it looks so bleak. I still cannot launch a boat from my shoreline because the water is too shallow.:( There are sandbars full of deer tracks where they walk out on them to drink. There's a swampy area of about 3 acres across the little seasonal creek that is full of dying willows because there is just no water for them. The willows have fallen over and are full of vines, Virginia Creeper, poison Ivy, and trumpet vines. I think most of the trumpet vines died this last year because I didn't see many blooms along the creek as is normal.

So, it's not just the ponds and lake that suffer, but also the woods and swampy areas along with the wildlife that depends on the plants and undergrowth (hogs excepted, of course :D).

From what I see Jim your water issues should improve by late spring as moisture from the Pacific should start entering lower California then dip down on its way east

Here Jim,, Even when it looks bad, It may be good..

As I walked along a creek bank, that flowed, is now dry and empty,,
Dead leaves and fallen trees from lack of moisture,,
Has naturel forgotten this part of the world,,
The deer, the bees and fox are gone, nothing for them forge upon,,
I stop and set upon a large stone,, That once split the flow of water that's gone,,
I look down at the rocks below,, there is something shining,, Could that be gold?
I jump down and start to dig,, it is gold there is more than I can carry..
I will come back after dark when no one can see,,
Then screw this place,, I am out of here,, just like the deer, fox and bee.. Lou

smile people,, it's what we make of life, not what life makes of us.. Lou

Western, we returned from the health conference with information from the cardiologist and also from the nutritionalist that spoke. PM me if you want any info, including the test that determines if one does not have heart disease. He also spoke about stress, and heart procedures - not what I thought. . . .

Oh, I also found out they actually have longevity studies on plant based diets and I found out how much longer one lives. . . again not what I thought.

I'm always tweaking my diet and I found that there are some improvements that can be made.

Got some gasoline and heading out to mow some of the dead broom weeds to give more sunlight to the spring flowers.

robbyr link still does not work. ??

Don, PM sent. Appreciate the info!!

Having abused my body for 30 years:D, I see a "change -a-coming" and hopefully one I can believe in:laughing: Went ahead and scheduled a stress test and general heart exam, hope my "new" insurance doesn't leave me out in the cold!

Now got to go re-drain the water lines to the yard, errrg, another hard freeze tomorrow night.

Thanks Lou, the "gold nugget" here is my neighbors. I have good and bad ones, but the good ones far outweigh the bad ones. Also, living on a dead-end road is a treasure in itself. I am not "out of here" anytime soon.:)

Thanks, that's the normal spring pattern of things with our weather coming from the west-northwest. When the cool air meets up with warm, moist air coming up from the Gulf, we have some exciting times. If we are lucky, a tropical wave moves up off the Gulf and gives us days and days of showers. We need several 3" to 5" rains to put our reservoirs right.

There is a mild ElNino getting ready to start in the spring and if something called the MJO gets into phases 7-8-1 then wet weather will come hopefully for you soon

Any body have luck growing missed onions? I apparently left some in the ground and now they are growing like crazy. Picked a couple and the outside is slimy, which I can remove, but they look more like leeks :confused3: Fixing to hook the tiller up and go to town on the garden a few times.

Buppies, I is funny you mention El Nino, the past couple of years they have been blaming it for part of our drought? Northern states been getting the rain. I remember we got more rain in the Rockies during the El Nino events though.

Dennis think this time will be a little different and next winter will be even wetter for you all. You can remind me next winter if I'm wrong. We keep getting rain and then cold can't buy snow

We will sure take "different", been drought to extremes here for near 3 years.

Well, I'm back. I finished sealing in the tub Thursday evening. Watched a movie with my son, then went to bed. Friday got up and went to visit my daughter. They have no internet coverage. I found that out when I pulled out my laptop to get on here.

Got back Sunday mid afternoon. Then got sick from a stomach virus or food poisoning. Haven't ate anything in two days. Just drinking gatorade and taking Lomotil pills

Ron,
Popping Johnys were two cylinder engines. Sounds like what your wife remembers them. Single cylinder engines were made by Forelich.(sp).
hugs, Brandi

Sounds like you guys in the northern part of the state are going thru a dry spell like we did in 2011. I remember seeing a drought chart back then and it showed the most severe area was a stretch from around the Houston area and slightly north right thru here. I was out this evening walking thru the woods and they
sure aren't the same. Dead trees all over.

On another note when I resent that photo earlier today I waited a minute and checked it and it was posted. Don't know why it's not now or didn't the first time. Never had that happen before.

Dang! Still can't see it. TBN is saying it's an invalid attachment.:confused3:

I believe you could do a trial test to see if it will work by going to the "go advanced" tab and then trying to open it in a new window. That should be a good test.

If that will not work, open the photo and then save it to your computer. Then add it as a separate attachment. One of these things should work.

Well the Sage continues:( Mom was admitted to Loma Linda Hospital in San Bernadino yesterday. Apparently while on a 1 mile walk, her lips and chin went numb. Emergency dept test showed extreme elevated Potassium levels and admitted her. They are awaiting her test results from the last go around here at the Decatur hospital. Loma Linda is a world class hospital, so maybe they can get some positive results. Luckily my little brother was in Utah (OTR trucker now) on is way to a military base around LA and has the next 4 days off, so he can go stay with her:thumbsup:

OK, back to you're normal programming.
