Jim coral snakes plentiful around here. I see half dozen a year. I haven't seen snakes at fires. Here is a 29er that snuck up behind a chair on the porch this summer. (29 yellow stripes).

The Lee county copper heads are the ones that I can't share the yard with, they are just mean. Whipper has got bit twice and her poor head really swells up, but in three days she back to normal. I know her snake bark now and help her get rid of the copperheads in the yard.

There ya' go, you just scared Eddie away again...

Used to find Coral snakes allot around Leander TX, that is the only place I've found any, beautiful snake too.

33* here this morning and crisp! have the fireplace going  Have to finish a deer blind today, so have the nieghbor coming over to help me get the last wall up. I pre-built them on the ground, so I can raise them with my FEL, but the FEL is a tad short:laughing: Should be a great weekend to be outside.

Officially 35 degrees in Denton this morning and I can see frost on the grass in my backyard. I dethatched the back yard yesterday and want to do that to the front today, but I'll wait for the frost to disappear anyway.

Don, that's the biggest coral snake I've ever seen. That is one beautiful snake. But honestly, I'm glad it's not at my house. I don't even want to think about all the places they could show up.:confused2:

Yes she does.

Ours does too. I wonder how many folks that regularly read this post have a dog?
A strange thing this fall. My wife keeps the training ring strip near the fence clear of grass with round-up all summer so the horses don't stumble when training. It usually comes back as a little clover, but this fall it came back as the best darn grass on the property. Not a seed applied and the horses don't leave many apples in there. They are cleaned up soon anyway.
Anyone had this happen with roundup before?

Don't know how many of you's have : RFD-TV :: Rural America's Most Important Network, but the other day I caught a program where they interviewed various ranch owners on the post effects and their experiences in The Texas Fires. :(
I should have but I forgot to get name and or title of program.

We do get RFD-TV via our DirecTV, but I seldom watch it simply because of my bad hearing and their lack of closed captioning.

Extreme Makeover; Home edition TV show has rebuilt a volunteer firefighter's home. Her home burned while she was fighting the Bastrop fire. She was a volunteer at Heart of the Pines Volunteer Fire Department (east side of Bastrop, closer to Mike) which also burned up. Extreme Makeover also rebuilt the fire station!

Also there was no property tax break for the fire victims for 2011. They were taxed full evaluation for the full year.

Did the county get any State or federal aid (FEMA) or the families that burned?

Either way though, not adjusting the taxes by the County , IMO is just plain greedy under the circumstances, but then again I suppose they need the funds.

Aren't all the property taxes in Texas based upon value as of January 1 of the tax year? I'm not sure who would have the authority to grant exceptions. And would exceptions be fair?
