We may have got .6", but not a heavy rain for sure, just nice and slow/steady. It was much needed and appreciated, unless you had Duck Commander 500 tickets. Gonna watch that race today when it comes on Fox.

We only got 2 tenths of an inch over the weekend.

Bluebonnets, in Manor, are being used for photo taking now.

We got Rebecca moved in. I rented a 6x12 Uhaul enclosed trailer, in case of the 40% rain forecast. My ex BIL arrived with bedroom suite and bedding from my MIL, so we had two trailers and all was done quickly. I bought Rebecca a new dishwasher for her house warming. I am here to tell you, it is a low water use machine and has circuit boards in it. All the wash cycles are foreign and so is the lid lock feature.

Manor is a good small, old, small town. Rebecca is 11.5 miles from the nearest Lowes in Austin. Manor just got a new super Walmart..........................with self checkout..........which I love.

Mike,
We have a Walmart in Conroe by I-45, one in The Woodlands (by I-45) about 9 miles away, one in Spring (by I-45) another 8 or so miles from the Woodlands. They pop up where the crowds are.

Manor is really a suburb of Austin now. I gotta move.

Paige is too far from anywhere to become a suburb of anyplace...course we have to drive 15 miles for groceries too.

I don't need to buy groceries more often than once every 4-6 weeks, if that often. Have freezers and pantry, so could be 30 miles from grocer and be fine!

I guess for my general part of texas, I came in with the best total on the rain. Got 3/4" yesterday. Had a little shower pop up this afternoon, but not enough rain to even get the sidewalks wet.

That's one of the reasons I wanna buy property around there. Probably closer to Lexington.

FG,
Did that increase your pond level any?

That was my plan when I bought this property. Retire and only go to town when absolutely necessary. I'm finally down to about once a week. Seems there's always something that needs doing or getting, and as long as you're in town - might as well pick up whatever at the grocery store too. ....A lot of times its supplies for whatever project I'm on so it's all good. This month it's new tires for the truck and some long 4 X 4s for the green house base.

If you'd like a base for spending time looking - we have the TBN cabin you're welcome to stay in. Lexington will be closer to Giddings. .....and my wife works at a title office if you need help with any land research -- she knows where to find out a lot of info.

No. Came down slowly, with no run off. A big help to greening the pastures, but not so much help for the pond. If I have to chose one over the other, I'll take pastures growing over a full pond, but I'd like a good hard rain with some runoff, to know water tables are up, so wells can survive another summer, (or longer!).

Oil wells are popping up like wild flowers in Lincoln Tx about 7 miles from Lexington. I counted 5 new pads yesterday. Last year they seismographer 600 sq. miles in Lee County. I don't know how that will effect property values but you can bet sellers are holding on to the majority if not all mineral rights. I think the gravel roads out here are keeping the big rigs from even considering drilling this area.

.38" in a late night shower, (almost 1/2" for the week) the wild flowers are the best they have been in years.

Don (and all),

The best wildflowers I've seen in my life are on Hwy 180 between Hwy 290 and Lake Somerville. There are parcels of land just full of bluebonnets. It is worth the drive.

My steel siding job on my house is going exceptionally well. The workers are taking their time and doing a terrific job. The color matches the paint on my south-side Hardie-plank perfectly. This is gonna be great money spent on making my house what it should have been from the beginning. The siding should add exceptional value and reduce upkeep and labor. So far, I am very pleased.:) It sure is windy here today, so not a great day to walk around with siding being a sail, but I think the guys can block the south wind by carefully working only on the north side of the house. There are wind gusts over 25 mph out there that could easily blow them right back up the highway to Wichita Falls.

The rain is causing my bluebonnets to come on strong. I should have some nice photos soon. Everything is perking up, including my grass. It's mowing time soon.

Charlie, Winnsboro has been a nice little town for many years. I have relatives who had an antique shop there and an uncle and aunt who lived there in retirement until they passed away. Both of them had made a career as teachers in the San Antonio ISD. He taught home building to industrial art students and she taught history. Though gone for many years now, I still have many fond memories of them and good times with my cousins. Anyhow, they sure enjoyed Winnsboro and that whole area.
