They are mowing the ROWs on I35 on the way to Okla City, but where there are thick patches of Indian blanket and Indian paintbrush, they are mowing around them.

Last Saturday (week ago today), I noticed someone had cut and baled round bales on the west I-35W ROW north of Ft. Worth. Then a couple of days ago, they were using a rotary cutter when they should have cut and baled the median and sides of Farm Road 2499 south of Denton. They were leaving huge clumps of grass; some on the cut grass and some in the roadway. And the grass along I-35E right here around our exit is waist high.

We were in downtown Denton a little after 5 p.m. today and noticed a bank time and temperature showing 95 degrees, but I see the NWS shows the official temperature only got to 92. Glad I got started at 8 a.m. mowing, edging, and trimming our yard and the one next door.

And I just turned off the soaker hoses I've had running all the way around the house. Sure wish we could get some rain.

Supermoon for 2012 was last night. It came up nice, but I couldn't tell that it was 14% bigger then last months full moon.

I still had fun driving my Mule around my place to take pictures of it.

I didn't even go out to look at the moon last night; probably should have.

But I was in Walmart this morning and they had several boxes of watermelons for $5.98 each. They had some with stickers showing them to be "Product of Texas" and some with stickers showing "Produce of Mexico" and from both Texas and Mexico they had both seeded and seedless. I thought it might be a little early in the year, but I bought one of the Texas seedless melons and maybe just got lucky, but it's probably about as good as melons can be. Delicious!

We got a trace of rain Friday while i was driving in from S. Texas. They should be harvesting corn soon, I saw several fields over 6" tall. Though coming home the humidity would be less, but NOOO.

Got up early and mowed the yard and watered a few plants. We sure need that 40% chance of rain tonight.

Nice photos of the moon Eddie, we tried to see it , but the cloud cover was a bit much. From what we where able to see, it looked pretty much "normal".

Thanks for the heads up, Bird. I'll be sure to look for those. Watermelon is another of those things I don't grow in my small garden. I can't grow them and do the work for what they sell for. If they are delicious, then that's just another reason to buy and enjoy them. Keep a Texas farmer working.

Not hardly a drop of rain here so far, looked promising a few times though. I know down South it was pretty dry, with all the rain we've had, I almost forgot how bad it was and likely to get.

We got the storm a little after 7pm. Lot's of thunder then some good rain then marble size hail. I'm afraid to look at my tomato plants this morning. After the hail stopped the bottom fell out and it really poured. I'll get out here after my coffee and check the rain gauge and the damage. The rain was a blessing as with the heat and the wind it was getting rather dry here.

This year it sure is nice to see the hay crews out cutting & bailing. Last year they just gathered dust.
