If you'd like a base for spending time looking - we have the TBN cabin you're welcome to stay in. Lexington will be closer to Giddings. .....and my wife works at a title office if you need help with any land research -- she knows where to find out a lot of info.

Thanks Mike. I might need her help researching Mom and Dad's 78 acres they had to sell back in the late 60s. A real estate agent told me that property could be under that mine SW of Lexington.

I gotta get out and see Y'all and that cabin. Don't know if I would stay in it, as Rebecca's house is not that far.......................and I got a key! Most importantly................Chloe 4-5-14 Chloe in front of Blanketed Luke.jpgis there.......and she is more fun.
hugs, Brandi

Oil wells are popping up like wild flowers in Lincoln Tx about 7 miles from Lexington. I counted 5 new pads yesterday. Last year they seismographer 600 sq. miles in Lee County. I don't know how that will effect property values but you can bet sellers are holding on to the majority if not all mineral rights. I think the gravel roads out here are keeping the big rigs from even considering drilling this area.

.38" in a late night shower, (almost 1/2" for the week) the wild flowers are the best they have been in years.

Mineral rights? What's that.:confused3: I sure would like to see some for sale.:)

Just be sure you get a surface waiver from whomever owns minerals under you. Keeps drillers from tearing up your land to get to somebody else oil.

Charlie, Winnsboro has been a nice little town for many years. I have relatives who had an antique shop there and an uncle and aunt who lived there in retirement until they passed away. Both of them had made a career as teachers in the San Antonio ISD. He taught home building to industrial art students and she taught history. Though gone for many years now, I still have many fond memories of them and good times with my cousins. Anyhow, they sure enjoyed Winnsboro and that whole area.

Jim-- You are right Winnsboro is a great little town and they have kept the Downtown looking good and they are upgrading it all the time. And the Autumn Woods Trails in the Fall should not be missed, and they have street fairs and festivals quite a few times during the years.

They paved the gravel roads, and widened the narrow roads near me, so the drillers could get in and do their thing. The drillers left, and the roads are almost unable to be traveled on, they were so torn up by the drilling equipment. With those equipment trucks no longer needing the roads, they stay in disrepair. I preferred the gravel roads to what is available now.

Just another thing that looks good initially, but turns out to not be so good in the long run.

The State of Texas is offering some grants to counties for roads impacted by oilfield trucks and equipment. Colorado county will get a several hundred thousand dollars.

FG, they paved my road this last year without a single oil field piece of equipment using it. Now, the biggest truck on the road is the weekly garbage truck.:) The county commissioner told me that oil and gas money in the county coffers was responsible for our improvements. BRING IT ON!

I wonder if some time from now, the revenue wont be worth it? If we do in fact loose our water quality, we loose.

It sure is windy here today, so not a great day to walk around with siding being a sail, but I think the guys can block the south wind by carefully working only on the north side of the house. There are wind gusts over 25 mph out there that could easily blow them right back up the highway to Wichita Falls.

.

Jim, I don't know what part of Oklahoma or Kansas your at, but it's blowing out of the North at my house at about 200mph:laughing:
