Strange weather in Lee County today. Floods and Tornados but on our hill only 1/3" rain and sunshine.

My wife had to turn around, and not drown, on a flat non creek area of the road to Giddings around noon.

Kyle, did you get any wind damage from that tornado that touch down on the other side of Giddings?

No, it happened on the other side of town. Whew!
Another 1.75 . It would be in OK with me if the rain moved over to the the hill country for 2 weeks.

Good morning. 1.8in gauge over night. This is great, been a few years since we had this much rain. HS

Rough night for the Wimberley area. Some locations upstream on the Blanco river reporting over 12" of rain. Epic flooding.

My cell phone got 2 phone calls and 2 text messages during the night warning of flash flooding dangers. And no, I did not get up to answer it. Without my hearing aid in, I never heard it. I know my wife got up at least once to see what the message was on her cell phone.

Of course, it's still raining here, about 1.5" in the gauge so far, but no telling how long it's going to last. That puts me at more than 27" for the first 144 days of this year.

Bird, y'all are trying to keep up with Lou's stomping grounds.

I got the lawn mowed yesterday, and since the breeze was blowing nice, I mowed our "mott" area (stand of post oaks) too. Glad I had 4WD. Used my 4310 and 5 foot shredder. Should've taken off the FEL, nicked a few trees. Oops. Just wanted to knock it down for the first time this year. Didn't see any snakes but I did see a couple of rabbits.

Has anyone eaten wild rabbit lately? I don't remember if I ate some 1 time when I was maybe 7 or 8, but I've slept since then. I think the people were teasing me that it was rabbit but it looked more like a small roast IIRC. :)

I need a good pellet gun to ward off the squirrels from my pecan trees. Can anyone recommend a good one but not too expensive. The trees are about 8 or 9 years old and due to the rains, this has been their best year. Wish I'd been watering them more during the past 5 year drought.

Kyle, when I was a kid, we killed and ate every squirrel and rabbit we could find. I got my first .22 rifle when I was 10 years old and shot a cottontail the day I got that gun. I know I shot some cottontails in this area when I was 18; can't recall eating wild rabbit since then.

In 1972, while living in Des Plaines, IL, I once saw a frozen "3 lb. rabbit, cut up" in the grocery store, labelled "Imported from Poland". I found that to be incredible since there are so many rabbits in this country. But I bought that, my wife cooked it, I took one bite, and we threw it all in the garbage. It LOOKED OK, maybe thawed or spoiled in some way on the trip over, but it was inedible.

I had never eaten a domestic rabbit until 1996. I started raising New Zealand Whites in November, 1995, and ate lots of them over the next few years.

How high is the water now daddy,, Shut up boy and keep baling,, We are about 15 inches over average for this year.. Two years ago I was worried about the calves stepping in cracks from the dryness,, some of them were three inches wide,, Now they just swim over them..
