some of us like Blue Bell Peaches and Cream

Peach ice cream seems almost impossible to find. So one day this past week I noticed that Walmart had Blue Bell "Peaches and Homemade Vanilla" so I bought one of those. But I won't ever do it again. They were not only too stingy with the peaches, but what peaches were there were big chunks, not distributed throughout the ice cream.

Bird, it's depends on each manufacturing day I bet.......Depends on how many fall on the floor, the ones that go into the ice cream:D

Ron, a FREEZE?? Might could throw some hay for cover, then till it in in the fall.??

Bird, you "aint" kidding!!, I guess its a good thing to help hold what little moisture we have in the ground, but other than that, I cant stand it either.
4-5 years ago we took the kids to Padre Island, for 4 days, it was stifling (sp)!! Even the kids didn't like the humidity enough to spend over an hour outside:confused3: I will never go back! And my how the "demographics " of the populace have changed since my last times at PI:D!!

When I was in high school and then a few toga parties there as a freshman in college (Spring breaks), I dont/cant remember it being near that humid (could have been the alcohol:laughing:)

What a weeny. It's only 56% humid right now. Give it a few months (July, August, and Sept.) and come down here and check out the 90% humidity. Watch the humidity levels each hour and you will be surprised to see that the highest humidity is at night..................when I work.

Finally the company is testing cooling vests. I saw one last night. You freeze the whole vest. Goes on with velcro straps. I want one so I can stop changing work shirts 3 times a night. Stupid engineers designed the hangars to face West, where it can soak up the afternoon sun.................and the prevailing winds are from the East!

Dennis, maybe I was just spoiled by my own homemade fresh peach ice cream. I had one of the ice cream attachments for the KitchenAid mixer and I had bought Ben & Jerry's recipe book, so I made several batches of peach ice cream that the family (and I) thought was very good. But now I've given all that stuff; mixer, attachments, recipe book to a daughter.

Well, I think she owes you some home made peach ice cream for that. Use your parental guilt-trip rights.

Good luck with that any time soon, as there may not be many peaches around to put into the ice cream. Late freeze and frosts, ya remember?

And Western; Was it you that said something about rain before morning? If anybody got that, it wasn't me!

FG, I was "reporting" what I read:D but it was only a 20% chance. It actually sprinkled on me today, but most of the nice rain has be SW of me..bummer. Looked like it got somewhat close to you though?

As usual, not a drop here.

We have confirmed drops! We are catching the edge but sending most to the North. You are welcome.

Sure wish I had a bunch of therm 3 pound coffee cans up here. They are calling for a killing frost for the next 2 nights, and our garden is all in and up.
Hauled all the potted plants and planters back to the garage already.
Ron

Tall kitchen bags; cheap and easy to apply. Weight the bottoms with rocks.

I was a glutton for punishment today. I took a 4-tine cultivator and loosened the soil around my tomatoes and pulled in more from the center of the row so that I have a nice wide berm/raised bed for the tomatoes. I put down soaker hoses and then mulched. My wife helped a bunch with this. Then, I drove 14 t-posts for my net trellis. Tomorrow, I'll drive 8 more posts and then start putting up the netting. I also cultivated two rows of sugar snap peas, blackeyed peas, and all my melons, cucumbers, and squash. Yep, I soaked my t-shirt and a handkerchief just keeping sweat out of my eyes. On the bright side, I cannot believe how fast everything is growing. My garden looks healthy and happy, just like me.:D

WooHoo!!!!! Hurray for naked rain dances! Makes me want to stay out dancing in this stuff, since I so rarely see it.

That rain is cold too!

   / Texas Spring/Summer Thread #1,638
Well, *THAT* didn't last long. Back out to dance some more!

Thought I saw a streaker "wear'n nuthin' but sneakers"

Pulled out the stirrup hoe my grandad gave me before he passed, man if you guys have never used one, go get ya some!! I weeded my entire garden less right around the plants (will do that by hand) in 2 hrs!! 53'x104' or so. Man that dude cuts those weeds right off about 1/2" under ground. Research it on Google, great tool.

Have my fingers crossed for some rain, right now it's sprinkling and smells great!.

That hoe looks neat! I think it would be very useful to have around here, indeed.

Funny, radar looks like we should be getting rain here, but it has stopped, and wind has died too. At least the temps have dropped. Nice to have doors and windows open again!
