I will make a note to set out side and have few drinks and take some pictures.. 8 PM will be a good time frame for me. Here is one more picture for you.. NASA needed another way to get to the moon so they built this tower to reach it.. very few people know about it .:confused3:. Lou

Neat pic, Lou! I think I remember something about NASA building that tower, but it was YEARS ago.

I'd offer to try to take a pic or two of the moon tonight too, but we are now overcast, and a couple of raindrops have actually hit me! Come on RAIN!

Bird, do you remember the Dallas International Motor Speedway complex south of Lewisville just across from the present day Vista Ridge Mall? It was a super raceway completed in 1969 and only lasted until 1972 when it got flooded and eventually sold instead of rebuilt. I don't think it was very popular with the neighbors either since there were so many noise issues. I watched it being built and was pretty excited about it, but I went into the Navy in 1968 and never got to see a single race there before it closed.

Actually, I'd forgotten about it, and never went to any races there, but I do remember it. We bought an old house in Farmers Branch in October, 1968, then a new house in Carrollton in 1972, so I remember driving by the place. And I remember some complaints making the news.

I only went to the races at the Devil's Bowl in Mesquite once about 1964 or 65. And like a lot of other goofy teenagers, I've not only been to the drag races at Yellow Belly, but did a little racing there myself. I remember the county wanted to give that little strip of land to Dallas or Grand Prairie and neither one wanted the headaches that went with it, so I don't know who owns that area now.

I thought I had the only witch of a boss that made folks work on Saturdays. She just had to understand, sometimes, I gotta dance! And if it is for the good of Team Texas, she'll just have to deal with it.

Lou,
You did a good job aligning your moon shot above what looks like a cell phone tower to me

I've snapped a few pics myself. Everything from Ant Anatomy to Zebra Dung and everything in between.
I loved film photography but digital really has many advantages.
When I was young I loved to climb the old fire lookout tower ( near the center of the pic) to get a great view of the area but when they added the communication tower ( near the right side of the pic) which is really only a few hundred feet from the fire tower, it sure took away my desire to climb :D

We have a completely overcast sky now and fog is moving in so no moon shots tonight. Maybe next month.
Ron

Ron, it looks to me as if you had a great view of the area when you took that picture. Beautiful country.
