Why don't you give me a tough assignment? Just buy some cattle ear tags and put them in all the electrical boxes where you don't want ants. I have great luck with them around my aerobic septic controller and my central air power sub-panel.

Agree with Jim, this works great. Just make sure to get the treated ones.

To close to home ... about 9 miles from me Terry Willis dies in Atoka County tractor rollover near Caney - Find My Accident in Oklahoma

From what I've been told he had a disc on the tractor and backed up to the creek bank and the bank gave way ... the disc went in and it pulled and flipped the tractor over backwards ... pinned under the tractor in waste deep water ... his wife found him ... local fire and rescue tried to lift the tractor with air bags ... no luck ... called a wrecker service they pulled the tractor off ... we can never be too careful

BR, you got that right, always expect the unexpected. My brothers BIL from Ft Towson OK., died similarly, but riding a zero turn mower on the edge of a small creek. Same thing, fell on top of him. He was 32 and a good friend.

Blueriver, the accidents on our farms are only surpassed by the numbers of accidents on our highways. Both are sad and seem to be proof that we WILL find a way to kill each other no matter how safe we make our vehicles.

Yep, Dennis, I've been reading about that in the Denton Record-Chronicle. I didn't go the meeting last night, but see that lots of people did. That land is currently a pasture with 3 horses & a donkey. And there's been a sign at one end for a long time saying "Retail coming soon". I'm sure those homes directly across the street will go down in value, and since we're only a couple of blocks from there ourselves, it may even hurt our property value. But I'll have to admit that I think it's a prime location for Buc-ee's and probably good for the city.

Buc-ees will certainly add lots of jobs greater than minimum wage and provide additional taxes to the area. With all the strip malls that have sprung up in Corinth, I can't see Buc-ees doing too much damage to your property values. You'll also have an additional 96 fuel pumps. Maybe they will challenge Walmart and Racetrack on fuel prices. Certainly, with the weekend traffic to Lake Lewisville, they will sell lots of beverages in their gigantic drink cups. If they keep it as clean as their reputation, it will be a very popular place.

Property within 3 miles of me now has been zoned commercial, even though it is county, not city. I breaks my heart to see this sort of "progress". When I moved here, it was RURAL. Then there was the mass exodus from the bigger cities to get away from it all and move to the country. Only problem was, they wanted all of their city amenities. That brought in traffic, shopping centers, a less than country friendly type atmosphere, etc. As much as I hate the thought, (and never would have considered it 10 years ago), I may have one more move in me. I know a couple of areas still rural enough that they don't even have their own schools! Sounds perfect for me! A trip to a larger area, every 2-3 weeks, and I would be happy! The rest of you can have the higher taxes, and increase in traffic.

Bird, I don't know how familiar you are with Buc-ees, but I don't think it will negatively impact the values much like a lesser chain store may. They are kept extremely clean and presentable and yours will have 96 gas pumps:shocked: Should provide a good tax base as well. I usually stop at the one 60 miles N of Houston, I think it is Madisonville? The gas is usually the cheapest for me on I-45, but not always, certainly easier to get a 30' trailer in the lot though.

There is also a perceived threat from government moving people rural, to a places capable of being at least somewhat self sufficient, and in control of there lives. People with means are returning to rural. HS

Jim & Dennis, I don't guess I've ever seen a Buc-ee's but have read just about everything on their website. Right now, the Quik Trip, Circle K, and Walmart on Swisher Rd/FM 2181 usually have the cheapest gasoline in the area. And I was really surprised to read that Buc-ee's doesn't sell lotto tickets. I can certainly understand those people who own homes directly across the street being opposed to Buc-ee's, but I would think they expected it in the near future.

Would be nice if that were the case, but those that moved "out", wanted their city conveniences with them, for shopping, entertainment, etc. That isn't going for being rural and self sufficient in my book!

Ran home before the storm to put up horses, got trapped in the barn for 30 minutes by hail storm. Lots of high wind and rain, yard is flooded, dead tree limbs are down.
