I've only seen one grasshopper this year, but I see several june bugs every morning at the garage door (a CFL bulb is left on all the time over the door).

I've seen Mesquites fooled, even though they are supposed to be the predictor. I have never seen pecan trees fooled, but this year, most are already in bloom, with buds swelling. Might be the first time they get surprised too.

Western; I think it took 10 minutes to get blown from Waco, to the Oklahoma line with the winds, but took 2 hours to get from OK line back to Waco!

 Thats bout what that plane looked to be doing.

Anyone seen a hopper this year yet? I'm hoping the cold winter got them, or the cycle is over. Been real bad hear for three years. We had a three day 80+ weekend in Feb. then three days of a good freeze, I hope it took out most of them. Ready to spray at first sign this year. HS

We are covered in the little ones, instars I think they re called?. Have seem many large ones as well.

. Grocery isle may be cheaper again this year as last.

Dennis--Really....Cheaper, I don't think so. A month a go Beef Briskets at Wally World were about $1.93/ # today they are $2.43/#. I'm afraid the inflation curve(?) is fixin' to bite us all in the tuchus. What ever it costs we all may need to be planting Victory (Survival) Gardens.

FG--Last year I was in a hurry, but I only re-planted the whole garden once. Thought I learned my lesson.....but I guess that's gardening in Tejas.

The Front just started coming thru about 15 min ago, real heavy rain and thunder, but it has now settled down to steady and still some thunder. Just a good soaking would be great.

No grasshoppers here yet at the grasshopper ranch. Still no rain and waiting on the front. Potato plants are a foot high and I just planted the corn. No freeze expected, but close, 39˚ forecasted Tuesday.
My Dad say's he's getting almost twice the amount for his calves (as he did 5 years ago) so don't expect the price of beef to drop.

Ended up with 1/4 inch, and took several hours to get that. Good for the lawn and pastures, but nothing for the tank. Even at 39* TXDon, you can get damage in the garden.

You're right, especially in the valley where the potatoes are planted. I'll get another bale of alfalfa to cover them.

Charlie, i was talking about vegetables, not meat, TV's and runnin shoes:laughing: Planting veggies 2-3 times, then the watering and personal time, corn on the cobb at HEB looks pretty cheap!
