Hi David. In your original post you have some jobs you are interested in doing. We live where logging is the livelyhood of many and we get lots of snow(not this year, weird).

When looking at the tractors I would not be to worried about any of the brands you mentioned. I would drive each, compare specs and look at who is giving you the best tractor for the price. Make sure the dealer is one you feel comfortable with and weigh the tractor you think is best against the work you will be doing with it.

I would think that the things you listed would require a heavy tractor and would consider that in the spec comparison.
Keep us posted.

Maka

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Now that you've spelled out your needs mabye you'll get some intelligent answers.
But lets see, been registered for 3 days, 7 posts and admitting to not reading and learning first before you're ready to give up on the greatest information site on the web?
You've already eliminated several major brands for no real stated reason.
try this again. o.k here goes first i did spell out my uses. second i only eliminated one couple others were questionable for the reasons i stated. so if you want to critic my post read them first. just like i have been reading many many threads. dont know where you came up with that either.
Now.....my advice. Read, read, read, and learn )</font>

dont know why it is only showing your quote. anyway i have been reading alot as a matter of fact. as for no reason on eliminating brands. i only eliminated 1 New holland the reason for that was becuase i dont feel it is up to the task of pulling wood from the woods. is that a good enough reason. the others weren't eliminated just weary.

Man... you need to lighten up. For somebody that wants people to respond to your questions you aren't starting on the right foot. This is a great website with great people who are willing to help. You need to give TBN users a chance and not be so negative.

One thing you need to consider is how you word the title of your thread. Many times I have had threads I start go stale because I titled it wrong. You've got to choose your words just right. On some of my old threads, I chose what I thought were eye catching titles but ended up with only a couple replies. Also, keep in mind that even though a thread shows quite a bit of views but little responses may be who is viewing the thread. It may be an unregistered (anonymous) user, or it could be that whoever viewed the thread doesn't know much about the subject. I know on most threads I view, I can actually provide little more to add, especially if someone else has answered the question well. Other times, even if I can provide an answer I usually will let someone with experience answer as they will most likely expalin it better. For very long time now, I just feel like a dumb parrot repeating information I learned on TBN, even though I have no "real" experience with tractors.

Ok.. you made a post while I was posting and that sounded a lot better. I don't want to push you away but you have to give people time and a chance to respond. This website has been invaluable to me and a whole lot of others. I think you'll find users to be happy to respond with great info if given the chance. Everyone's friends on here... so just take it easy and enjoy.

I am sorry but I must agree with PSDF350. I too have posted a few times and got very few replies. Many lookers but few replies, It appears to me that the number of posts one has is one factor. Also it seems that alot of members here have been around awhile and are on a first name basis with others. I had some great pm's from Bird and he was very helpful. Just the way I see things.

We are way off topic so I'll say this and quite posting on this topic. Like JayC said, just because a post has a lot of views means nothing. There are TONS of people that read the posts that are not registered and cannot even reply. This site is a great source of info. If you make a post and cannot generate any replies... try to PM someone who has a similar tractor or one of the well known guys like Bird. I have not meet anyone on this site that was not very opened to try and help with any question I had. I only post when I know I can give good info and I think most on TBN are the same way. If you post on Monday night and don't have any replies by Tuesday morning don't get discouraged! Some of the best posters on here only look every few days. I just want to encourage everybody to give the users a chance and lets all be friendly! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( quess the only way i am going to learn anything here is by reading other threads. )</font>

That is a good start, and I would highly recommend it.

You posted at 10:30pm on Sunday night, and are unhappy with your results obtained within 21 hours? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif It takes time to sit and write out responses to open ended questions like yours, and it was dark for half of that 21 hours. Since you are asking for us to contrast/compare multiple brands, you will need a resonse from one of the few people that have mulitple-brand tractor experience. You will get a better response if you give some indication that you've read a few posts and educated yourself on the basics.

As one of the original viewers of your first posts, I read that you wrote off my brand (NH): <font color="blue">"(I) dont think i will get a New Holland even though there the closest. they just dont seem up to being in the woods."</font>

I just didn't feel like taking the time responding to your open ended questions when my only area of actual experience has already been blown off.
