Since this thread is about music, I'd like to ask a question about Alice Cooper.
Most of you indeed know him. He is coming to my country this summer with a project "SPEND THE NIGHT WITH ALICE COOPER". I liked his music and spectacular performance in the '70s when I was young, but never seen it alive. Are Cooper's performances still impressive? The answers may inspire me to by the tickets or not. :)

I am sure he is still quite a showman. Haven't seen him for 40 years. He is a heck of a golfer. I played pool with him back in the 70's at Jack Haley Jr's house in the Hollywood Hills. He was a nice guy. We were attending a party for Steve March...who was Mel Torme's stepson. Interesting evening.

Nothing better than Tom Petty with Stevie Nicks singing vocals. At 68 Stevie Nicks is still very hot and worth 80 million bucks. I keep a box of crackers in my bed just in case!

PJSprog: good story and pic's - thanks for that.

My 42 year old son is a drummer - been playing since he was 8. He's been in multiple bands since high school and always did original music. Between trying to get a following going, dealing with "short paying" club owners, and keeping younger band members focused on the music rather than partying, it's always been a struggle. A couple of years ago he put a band together that plays prog rock covers - Genesis, Yes, Rush, Steely Dan, etc. I can tell you, even though I'm biased being his dad, he is really good - in fact they all are. At some point he came to the realization that his music wasn't going to support him, but he still enjoys every minute of it.

Yeah, Welshman, I took a few shots at making a career of playing, and it just didn't work out for me either in my local market. I probably could have made it work, but everyone I know who gets their main income from music all live like a bunch of vagabonds. I just can't live like that. Having a good day job allows me the luxury of playing what I want to play, instead of playing garbage I hate that will pay a little better. Those issues you cited about your son are universal amongst musicians and club owners. There are some good ones, but they are a distinct minority in that industry. The fact that your son and his bandmates chose to play progressive rock speaks strongly to their devotion to musicianship. Most of that stuff, by its very nature, is not easy to play. Kudos to them for pursuing it.

Speaking of music and some who have passed. My son pointed me to a documentary called Mussel Shoals. Muscle Shoals (213) - IMDb
Great look at the studios and artists there.

I believe that documentary was broadcast on PBS. It was excellent and I was shocked to see the number and variety of name groups that recorded there.
