As others have posted as long as you have verifiable homeowners insurance that will cover the tractor you don't have buy KTAC to get the 0% financing through Kubota.

Yes....well unfortunately I don't have homeowners insurance on my ranch, where my new Kubota is used and stored. However, at time of purchase, I was never asked regarding any homeowners insurance, leading me to belive it was mandatory and not optional. Probably just as well, because the Kubota insurance covers everything possible that can happen to a tractor.

I saw the pics. one of the members kindly sent them to me. Yeah, extra crispy alright. Loader bucket area still looks pretty good.


This isn't the first time I have heard of this oxygen starved tractor near fire syndrome. Seems to happen a lot. I am beginning to think that the best thing to do is get all of the crap piled up and finished BEFORE you light the fire and have the tractor back in the barn. This pushing things into a burning fire is taking a heck of a risk. The poor tractor cant get any oxygen, and you can't escape. Those of you with gear transmissions might think to put it into reverse and crank engine letting the starter motor push you backwards so the engine can breathe and catch. BUT that isn't going to work for most tractors unless you have defeated all the safety switches so you can crank and move the tractor with the clutch out. Whoops. Woooof. up in flames she goes. It is sad and a hard lesson all the way around.

Pushing fires up is one of my least favorite things to do because I know it’s risky but getting big fires to burn without help is almost impossible. I’ve never heard of lack of oxygen stalling a tractor by a fire though.

That's what causes the problem. The tractor needs oxygen just like us. Right up next to a fire (depending on which way the wind is blowing) is a low oxygen area. Tractor stalls, then you are done for as you cannot get it restarted, unless the wind changes direction or something like that.

He was working with his buddy on his buddies property. Buddy drove the tractor into a fire pit and set it on fire. KTAC paid him for a new tractor.

This. The front tires of the tractor dropped down into the steep sides of a recently dug burn pit and the tractor could not back up on it's own.

And for the record, KTAC doesn't actually buy you a new tractor or give you replacement cost. They buy your old one back from you for exactly what you paid for it. You get a portion of the money right up front. You get the balance credited towards a new tractor if you buy a like or greater tractor within 2 months of the claim being finalized. You are more than free to take the partial payment (value at time of loss) and walk away. As far as buying a new tractor goes, the only real 'out of pocket' cost is inflation. Even on identical models, your new tractor will cost more than your old tractor and that price difference comes out of your pocket.





These pictures were taken at the dealership last time I was there. I do not have any pictures of the tractor in the burn pit. It was rather chaotic and pictures were the last thing on the brain.

I get nervous pushing slash back into the flames. Watching the smoke get sucked through the screen at the front. I never considered it dying due to lack of oxygen. I was more fearful of an ember landing on the air filter and catching fire.

I might need to re-evaluate my slash burning technique. Maybe rig up a pvc snorkel or something. :confused3:
