Thanks for providing the pricing. But, hey -- don't knock the PT for having a proprietary QA.

They had QA capability long before most everyone else... so they have to maintain backwards compatibility for their own products.

You'd think that if you just bought the Markham bucket without the skidsteer QA that it would be considerably less than the normal full price, though... there's almost as much metal in the skidsteer QA as there is in the bucket itself, not counting the welding and fab involved.

Markham's standard quick attach on their grubbing bucket has as little metal as possible beyond the 14"-28" bucket width to keep weight and cost down. There's less metal there than usually seen so I imagine it would be tough to knock much off on a custom request.

And you're right, there are multiple reasons they stick with some very nice PT attachment plate designs. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PT's quick attach is so practical, you'd think they might go into the 3pt market. You know, sell a kit with the male plate on 3PT pins and a hydraulic top link, hydraulic locking cylinder for the Q.A., hoses and a two lever valve. I bet they could make the thing very sellable at $450.00. Then a hundred bucks a pop for the female plate to weld to any 3pt implement.

I agree, Moss. I think there would be a market for front QA attachments also, in the sub-cut class. The skidsteer attachments are too heavy for that class of machine, just as they're too heavy for our smaller PTs...

As an example, I think the PT grapple bucket would sell to sub-CUT owners at its current price, if it would only fit...

The thing I like about the PT's QT system is that it is self-centering. Your alignment can be off several inches, side-to-side, and the angled sides of the plate will center the implement and still allow you to connect...

Speaking of which, I need to get a couple more QA plates -- I put the only one I had on my 48" boxblade. Too bad there's not an aftermarket source....

Here are some pics of a new design quick plate that allows one to use 1/4" metal instead of 3/8". I believe it to be as stout and uses a larger plate. If the larger size is needed it works out pretty good.
