Yep, it was discussed in this old thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ease-gun-coupler-post3815714.html#post3815714

Here is my long version:

I squirt a lot of grease. Best investment I ever made was a battery powered gun. Don't need any type of locking fitting with that.

The Univer-Co coupler also uses locking jaws. But they are controlled by a sliding outer collar. This collar has a flange that can be pulled. Normal position is open. To attach the Univer-Co you simply push it onto the Zerk like an ordinary coupler. When pressure is applied to the Zerk this releases the collar and it slides forward and it's locked on. Pump grease. Then pull the outer collar to release the locking jaws and remove the coupler from the Zerk. It rests in the unlocked position ready for the next Zerk.

Having to slide back a collar with greasy fingers gets a no vote from me. I've been very satisfied with my lock-n-lube so far. Works even with greasy gloves on and I haven't accidentally pulled out a zerk fitting yet.

FYI I bought one of these air operated grease pumps with an 18L pail on sale at PA.

This with the Lock-n-lube on a 16" rubber hose has been a life saver and makes regular greasing less frustrating. I absolutely hate using grease gun cartridges and hand pumps. Always messy and lots of problems with grease squirting out of every orifice except where I want it. I've hated every grease gun I've owned until I switched to the pail pump.

I have a battery powered Lincoln, liked it better after I put a LockNLube on it:

My favorite is a high pressure lever gun. Replaced the pipe with a hose and a LockNLube. Just recently added another hose.

With the longer hose, I can put the gun against my chest with the hose pointing down and locked on a zerk that won't take grease, then pull the lever with both hands, allowing the gun to reach it's 10K psi rating. So far the grease has always gone in:

I broke down and got the DeWalt 20V grease gun. I have high expectations based on the recommendations here.

Thanks, everyone.
