Uh.....OH YEAH! I own TWO John Deere's. That makes me rich? I recall all 3 making me a bit poorer. ;)

Maybe the guy would have offered $500 if Brian had R4's, hydro and CaCl2 in the left tire and half beet juice half WWF in the other tire?

Or maybe not...

I cannot believe such a big deal about this.
It clearly illustrates the level of interest here in conducting a successful tractor-related business. I always thought that there should be a "Business Issues" forum here as well as... now that he's suddenly gone ...a "MadReferee Memorial Hydraulics" forum.

Junk - based on your profile and posts here... my guess is that you're *FILTHY* rich!!! :) You make those rich folks in town here that were turning me down on snowplowing look like paupers by comparison. ;)

Mark - All I can say is that in my little part of this world, the rich buy Kubotas and the "old money" super-rich buy John Deere. You need only look at the cars & SUVs parked at the local Yuppie Kubota palace to see what I am talking about. You'd think it was the Lexus dealership!

And the only Deere dealership left around here won't even let me drive my econobox onto their property... Mercedes-Benz only thank you.

I just got off the phone with a long time client of the general contractor I work for. It struck me as ironic how his problem and this thread were so simular. He's been handed a set budget to build a new warehouse. (We do "design and build") He gave me the sq. footage he needs, basic outline of doors, loading docks, fire protection level, lighting requirements, parking needed, and location where it needs to be built. THEN he told me how much money we have to work with. The object is to give him the best building possible with that amount of money to work with. If I CAN, we'll bring it in UNDER that amount. If we CAN'T, I have to tell him that also. We're talking a $3,000,000 job. NO WAY I want to say no to that. My boss probably would have a cow if we CAN'T find a way. But... If we can't, we can't. It's that simple. Customer understands, my boss understands, and I understand.

Drawings, permits, and zoning issues to be addressed, then we see if there's enough $$$$ left to build the building. We spend money before there's any guarantee that the building will ever come out of the ground. If it can't happen, we cut our losses IMMEDIATELY, and tell him no way. If we can't and some other contractor can, it's all theirs, and a steady customer hires someone else. That's life. You can't live and die with each job that walks through the door.
