Hi M7, I have some experience in this Hydraulic pressure thing...When building my Bank Barn with 12" block walls, My block layer asked me about the using the 12" reinforcing wire every other row of block. We were under the gun and it was going to take a few days to get it, I too came up with the idea of filling the block and using rebar in the holes with concrete.

I also waited to backfill until my two story frame was up 32'x24' and also waterproofed it and used drain tile with pea gravel and geotext fabric.
End of the story my 32' wall with all this effort has moved, probably 2" in the center. Now I'm not to impressed by all my methods of trying to keep it straight but " it is not my House ".

As mentioned earlier I would install two footers for two evenly spaced pilasters also filled with rebar and concrete, another thing I would do is in addition to the first draintile I would add a second draintile pipe about halfway up on the foundation and cover with pea gravel ....believe me NOW is the time..
You have a beautiful setting and great idea for your home but you don't want to scrimp on the foundation... Its something you don't want keeping you up at night

Your right, and I am not too impressed with block at all. This was my first and last build using it & if I were to do it all over it would be solid poured walls. Anyway, a second drain tile is not a bad idea & very cheap. I am already going to build two possibly 3 interior support walls anchored via footers.

I thought that size was plenty big enough for the two of us, but the boss says we need 3 bedrooms.
It just means bigger and more expensive logs. Oh well, gotta keep her happy.
