The sales guys wouldnt give me the time of day. One told me i couldnt afford it. Seriously. This from the same dealership ive worked with for 14 years.
Nobody could blame you for walking away from that dealership and if you are stuck with that dealer you probably should switch brands.

I went in two different JD dealers looking at a 333G and they both insisted I 'test' drive one. Same thing at a NH dealer who had a NH CTL already hooked up to a brush cutter and ready to go. I must just look like 'easy money'.

It's sad it's come to this, but most CAT dealers are the same way. They won't even talk to you unless you own a business. And getting any excavator rented from them bigger than a 308 is next to impossible unless you have connections.
You have to have a credit rental account setup to rent anything bigger that that.

You can get SSQA plates for the JD end loaders. For a person that has a lot of SSQA attachments, I understand the dislike for the JD system. For me, I have a set of forks and a bucket. The JD system is very simple and doesn’t add any weight to the end loader to reduce lift. For large machines or construction equipment not a big deal, they have large lift capacities but for smaller machines every little bit helps.
There could be a joke in there about a Super Dodge Guy that is always looking or needing to lighten up the load...... But it certainly won't come from Me!

And yes I could have bought a conversion plate to enable a JD to handle my
Attachments, but that would have required me to lay out even more then the extra 24000 for a tractor that I don't feel is worth the money.

Just the taxes alone on that extra 24000 for the JD, here in Canada, would be another 3200 dollars on top.

I'm very comfortable and happy with the decisions I've made so far.

I used to own a jd870. It was a fine tractor. Had it for 14 years. Reason i sold it was i needed to add a new power beyond kit and the part was no longer made. Tried to get it from several dealers……could not find part. So much for you can get parts forever.

anyways, i loved the tractor, and wanted to get a larger cabbed JD unit. The only reason i didnt buy one, was i went to my local JD Dealer ( same guy owns all 3 dealers in my area) and wanted to test drive a few different machines. The sales guys wouldnt give me the time of day. One told me i couldnt afford it. Seriously. This from the same dealership ive worked with for 14 years.

i went to local Kubota dealer and really liked the large cabbed unit on lot, but it was already sold. They had no new ones coming in anytime soon, and i needed tractor for winter.

went to look at local TYM AND Kioti dealer in town. He had no Kioti cabs on lot but had TYM 45 cabs in stock. I really liked the TYM, but i hated the cab layout for the remotes. They were behind me. Horrible location and played havoc with my neck issues.

Finally found a Kioti dealer about an hour away with last model years 45 cab model on lot with 5 hours on meter. They used it as demo model and to clear sales lot of snow. Got great cash sales price. Been great machine, next to no problems getting parts except for front axle when i spun a bearing. Covid played havoc with parts. There sitting in shipping containers with no one to deliver them.
i found parts 5 states away, and was up and running in a few days. Up until this time i had no issues getting parts.

i still like JD machines. In 1400 hours on my old one i had blown 2 front bearings that took out axle and the issue with power beyond. Overall was a great machine. It was a rebranded Yanmar as the yanmar sticker was all over the place. I wish i kept it when i bought the Kioti, as there are many times the open cab would have had better access than the cab.

Man up, get in the salesman’s face and give him a snootful back.

Useless to you now, but I found a solution to this same problem. I got a similar response when I went to add Power Beyond to a then 32-year old JD 855. They explained to me the Power Beyond kit is not "parts", it's "accessories". So while JD has committed to carrying "parts" for the tractors, they had discontinued some parts for older "accessories".

Whatever, I dug in and learned the only part that was not available for that accessory kit was a pair of 12-inch long 1/2" steel hydraulic lines. I got their lengths from the dealer, had a local hydraulics shop make me a pair of hoses the same length and diameter, and with those two parts I was able to buy the rest of the parts at the JD dealer counter to install that "accessory kit" on a 32 year old machine. Not bad!

I think that any time you have a machine that old, it's fantastic they still carry the key parts to keep the machine running. That seems to be where some other brands are failing. Being able to add to or even maintain some accessory features is a bonus, but let's not pretend JD is any worse than any other, there.

I'm actually surprised that, if the part you needed was indeed no longer available, none of the many online JD used parts dealers had it. I've never run into that situation, but I also never owned an 870.

What a stupid response. Im not getting into a pissing match with a salesman over a bad attitude. I simply took my business, and future business elsewhere. I dont get into road rage incidents over stipid people.

I mean, no need to be nasty at the man, but it would be good for him and other potential customers to bluntly point out that his ridiculously rude demeanor is costing him real business, and customers real access to quality machines. People do kinda need to be told when they are being dicks, for the benefit of all. I personally tend to avoid conflict like this also, but.

All i said was something like …. Seriously, if you dont want my business ill go elsewheres, and turned and left. I dont think i needed to say anything else. I guess after nearly 25 years being self employeed, i have tended to keep things to myself. If i said everything i was thinking, id have lost all my customers.

I absolutely would. These jackasses need a good earful treating a customer that way. After I let him know what he said was stupid and poor business for his company, I’d follow it up with a call to the owner or manager.

I had a salesman give me some smartass crap like that in a hardware store years ago. I walked into the store and let the sales manager know. He let the salesman go on the spot.

On edit: I did business with them afterwards and got to know the sales manager pretty well. He told me later that he appreciated me letting him know and found out subsequent to my encounter with this “Dick“, that other people were happy to see him go.

Letting this type of behavior go only makes monsters like this worse.
There’s no place in a dealership for a salesman making comments like that to a customer

I wouldn't bother getting in the salesman's face, no point in that. But as a small business owner, I sure as hell would want to know about a situation like this occurring in my business. As a good neighbor, you owe it to the owner of that dealership to send them a friendly letter, explaining why you're no longer their customer, so he can deal with that employee and not continue losing business over a situation of which they may be completely unaware.
