From the first post (Bolding added by me):
The "post count on the main index" is total number of posts - deleted posts as deleting a post does not remove that post ID from the system. As of 10:22 eastern today there were 14476 deleted posts (2965741 posts on the "Main Index" when the latest post ID was 2980217)

Thanks for your answer but
Reference your posting
Top left corner of each post has a number link (yours for example is #6). If you click on that link it will take you to the post http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/news-feedback/252768-3-million-posts-tbn-11-a.html#post2944030. The number on the end (post2944030 in your case) means that that post was the 2944030th post in the database. I did a search for posts by me in reverse date order (ie: oldest first) and that was the number of my first post.
The number of posts that you get this way will be slightly different from the postcount on the front page as this number does not count deleted posts (of which there were a 1500-2000 last time I compared the numbers).
The first post I find for you is: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...e-get-paint-woods-implements.html#post1306864 which would be post 1,306,864.

I am not the techno that obviously you are. I only knew of the using the number in the top right corner of the post.
What number are you referring to in the top left corner?
Assuming your left reference is a typo for right corner and that number is the total, you then state the total minus deleted is on the main index. I can find no link to main index. Where is that? I find no menu item that states main index.
Thanks
