What thickness was that OSB? At Home Depot it starts at $13.55 and goes up from there.

It's regional and fluctuates by the season. Hurricanes can drive the cost up as well. Wood is a somewhat volatile commodity.

its is quoted on a weekly price and when I price jobs its todays price only. The housing industry is booming at the moment so the demand has increased.

I check just checked and the load I bought last week was 11.98 I sell it at 16.15 a sheet . I do not move as much as box stores but I don't try to beat their price . Its a convenience item

There are a couple of issues driving the price, including regional variations and the surge in new home pricing.

This is not meant to be a political comment, but we (US Government) imposed a 20% tariff on all Canadian lumber starting in April. A significant portion of the soft wood used in the US for home construction comes from Canada.

Home Depot also keeps the price propped up by starting and stopping the plants where it's made. They seem to be happy with a price for 7/16 at around $10. to $12. I'm glad Lowes is in the game too, or the price would be higher.

When I built my home a few years ago I caught a dip in price and bought hundreds of sheets of 7/16 for $4.50. It took over 300 sheets just to do the roof in a crosshatched layout of two layers, then I sheeted the exterior with 19/32 and almost all of the interior walls too.

I doubt there is any shortage of raw material right now. Just wondering, but I wonder what the affect of the beetle killed forests in the West has on the supply? There are uncountable millions of dead trees in the forest now and there is a shortage of mills to handle the influx.
