My apologies. I am a history buff and as a relatively new guy here, just trying to add content to an interesting to me forum. The passing of celebrities is often intertwined with historical events of their day. I suspect many of us here remember well hearing of or reading about some of these events.Since we're doing historical stuff (which wasn't really the intent), a guy named Abe made a fateful trip to Ford's Theater on April 14, surviving until the 15th.
Not to digress too far, that would be no. Federal income tax was passed by Congress in 1909 with the passage of the 16th Amendment. It was ratified in February 1913. There were some income taxes prior to that but those were temporary and only for specific purposes.I never knew he died on tax day. Was there even a tax day back then?
