The Single Lid Wicked Grapple was recently developed and has always been 37".
The first version of the Dual Lid was 30" and the "Just Announced" new version is 37".

Hey! Why didn't you tell me about this when I ordered my at the end of May? I would've waited for a wider opening. After spending a bunch of time on it id much rather have a bigger opening. I was getting frustrated last night with only 30"

Bret,
Like you I'd purchase the newest grapple if I could. Except I purchased my grapple last year. Since then I've cleared an unknown amount of land. I kid you not, I've lift end four thousand punt trees with a 400 pound grapple. While the new grapple would be even better, the original grapple is awesome!

Be happy!

All grapples are awesome!!! And, it goes almost without saying that ANY grapple is better than no grapple. Even a grapple bucket attachment (why doesn't EA make one of those???). That said, it is often nice to think about how a particular job could be done more efficiently with a slightly different grapple. When rocks fall through I want a grapple with more bottom tines. When I need to lift a big stump, I want the lightest possible grapple. When picking up debris I want a wide grapple. When digging out stumps I want a narrow grapple. Somedays I would even like a clamshell. Bottom line is that just about ANY grapple can do the work if you learn your grapple.

Well, because of our PMs is why I decided to sleep on it then woke up saying it's worth it.

So I got the bigger opening... Now I can't wait to get it and put it to work

At the time, I don't think we had decided to change the dual lid models, otherwise I definitely would have told you.

The 30" opening was on them for over 2 1/2 years and only a couple of customers said anything about it.
Before the Wicked Grapple, our best seller for YEARS was the Construction Attachments compact model, which has the same 30" opening.

I'm not sure if this should go here or start a new thread but here goes. I have talked to Travis and he doesn't have an answer (but neither does my JD dealer).
I have a new 4066R with an H180 loader. I configured it with the 3rd function hydraulics specifically to run a grapple. The 3rd function kit is part #BW 16414. The kit has 2 female quick connect hydraulic couplers, part #AM 102487, on the loader mast where the hydraulics from the grapple will attach. I want to buy the 72" Wicked Root Grapple but I need to tell them what size male ends to put on the grapple. No one has been ale to tell me if the AM 102487 quick connects are 1/2, 3/8, or 1/4. The parts schematic only labels the AM 102487 "Hydraulic Coupler" without a reference to size. I have searched the web but can not find the dimensions of that hydraulic coupler.
The dealer did tell me that there are no couplers on the tractor that are larger than 1/2". The AM102487 is noticeably smaller than the hydraulic quick connects on the back of my tractor so I've pretty much ruled out 1/2". Additionally, is 1042487 a "standard" AG coupler or do I need some super secret configuration that only the John Deere Genie can manufacture on the grapple hydraulic hose?
I'm not very happy that neither the parts department or service dept of my dealer were able to answer my question. Any help will be greatly appreciated (and it will lead directly to a sale for Everything Attachments) Thanks

With the part# AM102487, this is the best spec. I can find: John Deere Quick Coupler Male Tip - AM105467

I think it's 1/4", but I do not know the Parker/Pioneer equivalent. Our hose ends coming off the grapple are 3/8 pipe thread.

Ted, thanks for the response. I've done a little more research and found this link Third-function hydraulic lines and hoses
to the Sales manual for 3rd function kit BW16414. There they advise:

If used with skid steer attachments, couplers will not match. The following parts are required to convert for this application:
1- KV14216
1- KV15976
2- AT191333

Is this what I need to use your grapple on my 4066r.

That is still very vague because it gives zero details as to the coupler size, but yes, if you only have outlets at the mid of your tractor, you'll need to route hoses up to the front of your loader.
That can be accomplished by buying the JD kit, or probably much less expensive to have hoses made locally. If made locally, you could tell them to put 1/2" or 3/8" couplers on them to hook to the grapple.
