Ah, now you see the simplicity of it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's the idea! It makes you wonder what the heck it is that's back there so that you turn around and look! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Devious, isn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Depends on how soft a seat you have. A friend of mine mounted the mirror in his race car in rubber bushings to eliminate the vibration, and couldn't see anything. It was suggested (on a forum similar to this one) that he remove the bushings and try it again. He could see fine. Turns out that his race seat was a very thinly padded aluminum seat, and he was vibrating more than the mirror. Once he matched the harmonics of the mirror and himself, he could see in the mirror.

If you have a soft seat on your tractor, and want to mount a mirror on a solid mount, you might have to remove the seat padding so you'll vibrate as much as the mirror. End of problem.

Greenacres,
I mounted a mirror on the FEL posts. I tried a number of convex auto mirrors with no success, then one day while riding with a friend in his boat, I noticed the wide angle mirror he had mounted on his boat windshield for water skiing safety. It was perfect for my application. It was easy to mount, covers a wide field of view, only cost $25.00 and doesn't vibrate. I wouldn't transit on the road without it. It keeps the traffic from sneaking up on me without warning.

I mounted two 6" convex mirrors to the top of my FEL side frame. Just bolted to the holes already supplied with my JD FEL. The mirrors came with a 4" extension which allows operator to see past the rear tires. The mirrors do catch if operating in tight spots. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Paul:

You are smokin' as usual. I think you have a slight case of spring fever and need some type of medication.

I know one thing for sure, if I refered to my wife as "wifey", well I probably wouldn't be able to post here for a while. I'd have broken fingers to say the least.

I don't have the mirror problem at all with my cab tractor, but the rear view television camera sounds neat.

I don't think the ergonomics of a tractor seat are conducive to a restfull nights sleep /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
