Stoneyfork, all those pictures look really tempting. How is the job situation in you county?:D

It appears upon close inspection the bear dug into the bale to eat a box turtle that got wrapped up in the bale. There were 4 or 5 bales with similar damage in the field.

In the picture of the bales, there is a large bull or cow standing beside the old building. Do bears ever attack cattle or new calves?

Your game pictures are amazing. It's obvious that your game cam has a high quality camera instead of the "junk" cameras on most game cams. Thanks for posting those nice shots.

Jim, I know my eyes are gettin' old, so maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that's an animal (bull or cow). It looks to me like another small shed or building.

:eek::eek::eek:

I think you are right Bird. The eave looks like an ear and I didn't look closely enough.

It still doesn't change my question. Where there is hay, there has to be some cattle. I'm wondering how much of a problem, if any, the bears are about attacking cattle? Not living in bear country, I have to plead ignorance about such things. I'm wondering if wolves and bears might be similar predators?

I'm just getting over a cold and it's been two weeks since I checked the game camera. I had 1,544 pictures on it!!!! Unfortunately, in the last week, it seems to have lost the ability to flash, so there are hundreds of pictures that are too dark to see anything.

Time for a new camera. :D:mad:

I've had this one since Christmas, almost three years ago. It's taken tens of thousands of pictures, so it might just be worn out. I have no complaints about it and in fact, I'm going to buy another Stealth Cam to replace it. This time, I also want a solar battery setup. The biggest issue that I have is changing the batteries.

The big boar in some of these pictures is the one Steph wants to shoot. None of the others have any interest for her. We'll wait and watch for him, but the others are all safe.

One day last week, at about 3:45pm, I was on the backhoe, about 50 yards from the feeder when a group of 12 or so hogs came out of the trees and to the edge of the trees behind the feeder. That big boar was with them, but not so eager to come out in the open as the little ones. He definately hung back, but he was also very much interested in one of the sows. Where she went, he was right behind her. They didn't seem to care about the backho, or the engine noise, but they also didn't come all the way to the feeder. The corn was already gone for the day, so that might have been it too. Then my dad drove up on them in the dump truck and they all ran off. He said he saw 6 to 8 of them as they ran off into the woods.

Eddie

Good Mornin Eddie,
Those pics all came out good ! Thats a pretty good sized hog in that group of photos ! Im just curious about the flash your talking about. When that does work does that scare off any animals that would be at the feeder or do they just ignore it and keep eating ?

Eddie, you will have to declare your self a legitamate "Hog Ranch" and get into selling home cured bacon and home smoked specialty cuts along with some sausage.:D:D:D

Can you set up guided hunting tours?:D

Good Afternoon Guys,
Admittedly not a great picture but here are a couple of butterflies out in my fields from this past weekend ! They were black and orange, very pretty flitting about as Kathleen and I walked down to the mailbox ! :)

Didn't have 1,300 pictures, but since I put out some shelled corn they seem to be coming from all over to eat. Sorry, no hogs:D:D
