Sounds like you bought the wrong tire for the application. Michelins are quality tires for sure.

They came Factory.

I've always liked the new General Grabber AT3's and haven't read a negative review about them yet. I actually strongly considered a set but got a good deal on a set of Nittos but they will likely be my next tire.

I hear good things about them also.

For the money the Falken tires are pretty good also.

I had great success also with Hankook.

I had Silent Armor tires on my work truck for a few years (two sets). They were great in the snow but were a b*&^ch to keep balanced. When I needed new tires for my GMC Sierra I went with Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to making major purchases....actually any purchases... and did a great deal of research on tires. The Hankooks are less expensive than Goodyear. They are highly rated for snow and rain. I liked them so much on my pickup (they are LT's) that I bought a set for my Toyota FJ Cruiser, except I got P rated as the FJ is lighter than the pickup.

Here's some of the info I found:

Well at this point the AT Adventurers are out....too much money and too much hassle to try and get them. As I said before if I could get the Silent Armors I would in heartbeat. At the moment I'm looking in no particular order at:

BFG K/O's or K/O2 (Know plenty of folks who have run them and been happy with them)
Michelin LTX AT2 ($$$, but less than the AT Adventures)
Cooper Discoverers A/TW (Basically a severe weather A/T3)

I going back and forth at the moment, as if that isn't obvious :D I didn't include the hankook simply because I haven't had the chance to look at them yet. I'm thinking if I was doing a tiny bit less commuting and bit more traveling off pavement I might get the BFG's however I suspect for my purposes the LTX AT2's and Discoverers are probably a bit more suited to my needs. All three generally come highly rated, as do the General Grabbers. Found an interesting thread on the subject over on Jeepforum.com

I have found the Coopers had much better traction than Michelins, but the Michelins wore better. I think the BF Goodrich does better than both of them, at least from those 3 brands I had on 3 different trucks. All the tires were AT rated.

They may have come along way, but...I would never buy General Grabbers again. We bought 2 new trucks with them about 10 years ago, and they both wore the tires bald at 10,000 miles and I swear to you that is the truth. Not only that, they get ripples in the sidewalls that do not got away.

I am going into my second year on a set of Dunlop mud tires. So far they are good in snow but no great shakes on ice. The previous 7 years for this vehicle I ran Pro-Comp mudders year round. Pro-comp doesn't make my size any more (30x9.5x15") and I don't want to upgrade to the bigger size due to needing to get wider rims.

I've had a few sets of Michelins when I bought trucks that had them, all were the worst traction I had on any tires. I've had a lot of success with Hankook, They wear well and have good traction.

I have no experience w the Kevlar A/T's but a lot of my Jeep buds jumped at the Kevlar M/T's when they came out. Had balancing and coping issues. I stuck with BFG M/T's for my rig. The most popular off-road Good Year is the DuraTrac. It's between an A/T and M/T tire. Has good road manners and performs well off-road. Here's a JK w DuraTrac's. image-2983621337.jpg

I love my Dura Tracs. I'm on my 5th set.
