65 PSI sounds good to me. At 80 PSI expect faster wear.

I would take the time to use the 'chalk method'. 65 seems a little high to me.

I'd say take the door jamb inflation number (which is 35psi for my Sierra with 20" tires, not sure about yours) and convert that across load ratings to the new tire via the charts. Seems like 50 psi is about right.

Note that you dropped a speed rating (T to S) which is minor, but it technically mean the new tires have less heat tolerance than the old ones, so avoid long high-speed stretches on the autobahn ;).

Thankfully, I'll never have a need to run the tires at 80PSI, nor will I be doing any autobahn style driving...... I think the truck has a limiter set at around 100-112 anyways. I'm a bit past the age to be playing pole position with a truck. However, this weekend when I have a chance I am going to play around with changing the air pressure down into the 50's and run the chalk test and get a better idea what feels comfortable and works for the truck.

For what its worth the cold pressure was actually at 60. I had forgotten that when I checked the tires I had been running for a while.

In any case it'd be kinda neat to get a hold of some pressure sensitive paper like FujiFilm makes:

But that would be more for &h!ts and giggles.

Once, I parked my front tire on a piece of graph paper and then sawed at the steering wheel gently, to mark out the tire footprint on the paper. That was the front tire on a Honda S2000. Worked very well. Makes for a good science project with kids, since you can use footprint area multiplied by tire pressure to estimate the total weight sitting on the tire (give or take sidewall stiffness effects, and it doesn't work with run flats of course). In that case, the math came out very close to the expected weight, which was cool to see.
