Thinking about purchasing GC2400 and.....

On monday I got word that I was approved for the purchase. Had my choice of $0 down 0% for 72months at the higher price or 6.49% for 72months with zero down at the lower price. Payments worked out to be about $3 per month cheaper with the 0% so that is what I went with. Picking it up on friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Bought the GC2400 with loader and industrial tires and the 2360 snowblower, only problem is the blower is on backorder (supposedly ordered in the early fall) and probably won't arrive until the end of January. From doing a little reading around here it sounds like this is not uncommon.

Want can you do? other than wait....

Getting excited to have a tractor of my own. Used to use the father in laws 99 Kubota B2400 that is pretty well worn out, had to spend an hour fixing everytime I wanted to use it.

I have been reading that the delays on those blowers is becoming something of a pain, as in frustratingly long delays. I dunno.

Perhaps you have access to an inexpensive back blade so that you can at least break in your machine, have some fun, and clear the snow while waiting.

Yeah I can borrow the father in laws 6' King Kutter Rear Blade (if he's not using it), or for more seat time I can just dig away at the drifts with the loader (done that before with the FIL's Kubota-takes a while but it works).

The tractor I am actually buying was a dealer demo, every year they give a GC2400 with a MMM to one of the baseball complexes in town to use for mowing the grass and dragging the diamonds, so the tractor already has about 45 hrours on it. The tractor came with the factory installed loader and joystick but they had taken the loader off and just had the MMM on it so the loader is brand new.

They already have a sub-frame and front blade in stock so I am going to see if I can get that to use in the mean time, being as the blower uses the same sub frame.

Since it is so close to its 50 hour service, assuming MF also has a 50 hour service point, are they going to do that, before delivery?
That's worth a few bucks.

Took my daughter in with me this afternoon (Friday)and signed the paperwork and picked it up at about 2pm. Salesman was excellent, no pressure, didn't treat me like an idiot (he realized that I am very mechanically inclined and did not need to be taught/told the basics). Heck he even printed off a coloring book for my daughter to do while we did the documentation and loaded up, plus he gave her a T-shirt and a candy cane- as well as some stuff for me.

Now that the weather has warmed up (approx 40* Celsius change in less than 24hours) and I have been able to look at the tractor a little closer and it has a few more scratches and wear marks in it than I expected from a unit used to mow some fairly high end ball diamonds, but nothing a little bit of touch up paint won't hide.

It's gonna take a little getting used to the side-by-side hydro pedals (I am used to the FIL's 1999 Kubota B2400 with the heel and toe set up) but can see it is going to be way nicer to use once I get there.

Already looking at different lights, mounting positions and switches to see what I am going to do, being as it gets dark about 5pm (sunset was at 4:32 this afternoon) here this time of year I will need all of the light I can get for moving snow.

Dealer is still waiting for the snowblower to come in but they said that as soon as it comes in they will come out to my house and pick up the tractor, haul it into their shop, mount/PDI the blower and install the block heater (not sure why you would sell a tractor with out one in the first place, but at least they are putting it in) and then haul it back to my house- FREE! Sounds like I may have hit a good dealer.

Congratulations on a great new tractor. The wait for the snow blower will be tough if you get lots of winter weather, but a great addition when it arrives.

This is my second winter with the 2310 and I added chains to the (unfilled) rear wheels since the R4s seemed to slip a lot when I am doing parts of my yard. The change has been impressive and added just the right amount of extra grip.

IMHO, the factory lights are just a notch above worthless and work lights are a must (it is dark here until about 7:00 AM and after 4:30 PM). I added (4) 55w work lights, which nicely light up both the front and rear work areas. The lights I used are halogen, but I have a friend who used LED work lights that gives off a slightly different color light and at a fraction of the amperage.

The other thing you may want to consider is switching to synthetic oil. Lots of folks here have found that the synthetic makes cold weather starts easier. I waited and made the change at 50 hours, just because I could not justify throwing away the good oil that came with the machine.

Sounds like you have a good dealer, too, which is very important.

Yes, sounds like an excellent dealer. Mounting the front-mount quick-hitch assembly does take a while the first time around! Good to hear they're going to pick it up & bring it back on their nickel. (Mine did the same, and even gave me a loaner 2310 while mine was being readied!)

Got a pal that bought a 1528 last year and a GC2400 this year.

I bought a New Holland sub and have regretted I did not listen to him ever since.

Massey just has better machines.
