Thinking about purchasing GC2400 and.....

Hey, Will.

I've got 128 on it now, mostly spent snowblowing. Looks like we're going to miss this storm....

I did, however, add a few "extra" hours this summer, as the mower deck has proven to be an absolute godsend as far as mowing the lawn. Couldn't be happier with my purchase of the used deck from Woody.

I'll be adding a lot more hours next summer, I suspect, using the thumb to get some of the dead trees on my land processed for firewood; I had just begun to experiment with it last summer when the chicken house took priority....

(So far we have 3 hens that have begun laying. Now we're getting some nice, fresh eggs every day!:D:D)

Will you be splitting the wood yourself??

Sarg, your comments are interesting... you've got a newer version than the "boomer" NH tractor I looked at while doing research. I looked at 'em all, came back to Kubota and MF, settled on the MF. (The zero% got me.)

I was not very impressed with the NH; their larger tractors looked great --and enjoy a good rep-- but the smaller ones seemed to lack the sophisitcation of other brands- perhaps unfairly, but I ruled them out quickly.

I should add that, after I got my MF, I was quite surprised at how much smaller & "lighter duty" the BX series looked in comparison, especially the backhoe(s).

They've all since (3 yrs now) come out with newer, "improved" models. Mine ain't perfect, but I guess I'm hooked on "red"..... and have been very happy and satisfied with my 2310. The 2400 series are even better, from what I gather.

We all know that hindsight is 20-20....... but a simple thing such as a glance at the NH FEL with one cylinder for the bucket and then at the MF you notice two ..... you look at the engineering for the block heater on the MF and note it is bolted on with dual bolts... where the NH has a flimsy little toggle set up that is "supposed" to open and lock the heater in place. I work with my machine and then look at my bud's GC2400..... the more I think about it I'm going to see what kind of trade I can get going up to the MF 1500 series.... the new 1600 is a little too big.

What are you trading in? Eventually the 1500 series will be updated to the 1600 line, so you should get a real good deal on one. 0-0-72 is still on, and hopefully they have it on again when you are ready to trade. We let the dealer install the block heater both times, much easier for them to do it, than us.

Well I have gotten about 1.5hrs of seat time moving snow with the loader since I picked it up last Friday and I am pretty happy with my purchase. Only have a few small issues I will get the dealer to address when they put the snow blower on (float detent on the joystick doesn't stay detented is the biggest one).

Dealer says they did the 50hr service on it when it came back from mowing duty this summer but I think I may spend the money and switch to synthetics at 100hrs.

Went to Princess Auto last weekend and they had some 4inch 55watt spot lights reg price of $3.88ea with 25% sale price so I picked up 4 and mounted them, now I have p;enty of light. Will post pics soon.
