Thinning in Maple grove?

/ Thinning in Maple grove? #11
I have an old Solo trimmer with a saw blade that is rigged like that. It's 12 or 13 years old, but will still do a lot of work. When you get the harness adjusted right, it isn't too bad to use. You just have to remember to move your feet, and not be leaning to get closer to your work. That is what does a number on my back.

Yep, getting the balance point where the harness hooks onto the shaft, and setting the handle bar angle comfortable helps too.

I bush hog most of my trails, but I have two, maybe a half-mile total, that go through areas that would need a lot of tree cutting and dirt work to make them passable with the tractor. At least the canopy shades out new growth more on narrow trails than the wide ones.

A lot of those two trails are very uneven, so footing is awkward sometimes. And then, there are the numerous times I'll flick the cutter up to head level to trim off a high branch or clean off the side of tree. I only take the brush cutter through once a year, so I try to trim them back pretty good while I'm at it.
