There will be wars and rumors of wars. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Since participating on this board I have heard that Kubota was going out of buisness. That JD was buying Kubota, that Kioti bought Kubota, that Kubota was buying Yanamar, that Kubota owns Kioti, that Kubota copied Kioti, that Kioti copied Kubota, that both Kubota and Kioti were going out of buisness, that Kioti was made in Japan, that Kubota was made in Korea and Kioti was made from left over reject Kubota parts /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and bla, bla--bla,bla-blababla.
Yeah, right, whatever, I would not be holding my breath /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. J

Oh, and I left out one thing, anyone who buys an orange tractor whether made in Korea or Japan is an unpatriotic, anti-American, communist scoundral and a no good, dirty, lying cheat whose mother wears army boots. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. J

I've had a hard time understanding how anyone can can say "buy american" these days. Honda, Kubota, Toyota .... all have plants here and employee real american workers, american managers, etc. They pay taxes the same as GM or Ford. The only difference is the company owners nationality. As a hard working american I spend my money where it give me the most for my hard earned dollar. I could car less about which big wigs pockets the profits line. ....but thats just me.

Why would the same tractor cost a dealer in New England more than a dealer in Kansas? I saw someplace in a thread that shipping might be a factor, but I don't think so. Japanese Car Manufacturers started the trend of averaging the delivery cost so that dealers across the country got the same cost, regardless if you were a mile from the boat or all the way across the country, and the Americans quickly followed suit. One thing that does factor in for a car dealer's cost is the number of units he orders. The more units, the more incentives he gets back from the manufacturer. I have heard that some dealers get as much as 50% off of invoice on some units. Another factor is the interest the dealer is paying on his inventory. Most dealers don't have the capital to buy the units outright and have to borrow the money to maintain an inventory...that figures into the cost of each unit...As for tractor dealers, I would be surprised if their business plan was much different, but I really don't know....it might be. But, I find it hard to believe that one dealer would have to pay more for the same unit as another dealer considering all other factors were equal. That would make no sense for Kubota or the dealers.

This was being done long before any foreign car companies were selling cars in the USA. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I must agree that dealers are in business to make money, period! The list price of a tractor is the same regardless of the location. Yes, overhead varies from place to place but as a consumer I'm not willing to pay an owner of a dealership to drive their caddy's or pay for their new poolhouse because of them over inflating their prices. So yes, I'm shopping price and if the local dealer can't come "close" to an out of state dealer well that's their choice. So I must weigh the decision to buy local or out of state. Out of state may have better prices but do I want the hassle of pick-up/delivery? Maybe, maybe not! In the end, if the local dealer feels like he's getting strong armed then I could care less. But then again I'm not the type of person that expects a local dealer to match an out of state dealer. In addition, NO dealer is going to sell a tractor and lose money. Yea, he may not make the full margin but if he sells me a tractor he definitely is NOT GOING TO LOSE money. I bought from my local dealer because of price and reputation. The dealerr has been in business for 50 years and at 78 years old he still shows up everyday. His sales force (2 people) are both in their 50's. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
