Harv, when I first saw those forked logs I was thinking how great they would look inside a house holding the exposed beam of a cathedral ceiling. With a little skill you could have the forks extend up into the ceiling making it appear natural.

Nice setup. We need some close up pictures and some specs. What size/length is the pole and how big is the winch? What size are the fork pockets and are they set up for 4" wide forks on 27" centers? That seems to be the most common fork lift setup.

While the client was working on the house this weekend, his better half was down here visiting my better half. Small world isn't it?

Not for lack of trying, three times I started to head out to get my tractor.

Gary, the winch is just a thirty five hundred pounder. The extension pole (center) is two inch schedule eighty and the outer is three inch heavy wall. There's a spacer on the end of the two inch at the bottom to keep it centered in the three inch and another spacer at the top of the three inch to keep the two inch centered. I used two by six rectangular tubing three sixteenths wall for the receivers for the forks. I don't know what the spacing is but my forks are Bobcat and they're apart as far as they will go. Robert, I've seen that done in homes in pictures. It looks totally kewel.

After lunch I got over to the second location and started whittling out the slot in the big timber for the pipe posts.

Looking good Harvey! I'm like Gary and was really interested in the boom pole also. I'm trying to visualize the finished product - about 5 more post and I think I'll get it. Progress here came to a stop after the wet weather hit and I also broke a bone. Not to worry, it's not as debilitating as a finger bone.

How are you securing the top log to the post? Bolted, or steel rope braided? I would worry, but we get huricanes and tornados around here and would hate to see the top come flying off.
