Mine did it until I realized that because I didn't have loaded tires and if I was in 2wd the rear tires would slide. I could hear the tires sliding though, in a caab that could be a little harder.

Tires filled and box blade on back. In 4 wheel drive , not sliding.

Does it let completely go and then grab or does it pick up speed smoothly?

feels like it lets go for an instant then catches

Is the HST fluid low, perhaps? If you are on a steep slope, low fluid may be letting air into the transmission circuits, causing it to freewheel intermittently.

it was full when i started and i havnt seen any leaks. I will check

Sounds like you have a problem. If the tractor is new I would be bugging the dealer as it likely won't fix itself:(

I would make sure that I was in 4WD and try to make it repeat. I saw where a previous poster stated the rears could be slipping I have had the same sensation when I thought I was in 4WD but was in 2 WD. I have also sen where the tires were slipping on the rims and it can feel like this. The only other thing that comes to mind is the clutch. Though a clutch usually does not grab and let go.

I have a 5740 and do not have that problem at all. Just a note...to engage the 4 wheal drive is pushing the lever down in the 5740 not like the 4310 and others. I had a 4310 and up was 4x4. The 5740 up is 2 wheel drive.

What mode are you running your transmission in?

Have you tried adjusting the HST response knob to see if making it quicker or slower has a difference?

It is not the tires slipping it is in 4wd and was on a concrete boat ramp. The oil is full and it did it in high gear low. I tried it in all hydro modes. A friend has a new 3840 or whatever that size is that I will try when I get up his house.

Mine does that aswell. Normally when unloading off the trailer when gravity breaks over onto dove tail slope...I thought it was the HST plus doing it.
