Thought I Had A Problem With My New Kioti CK4020

After finishing adding a rear view camera to my Kioti today I backed my tractor into a shed to drop my offset flail mower. The PTO would not lower the mower(3 point hitch) to the ground. My first thought was I did something during the camera installation that caused the problem. I inspected the 3 pt hitch and mower for binding or any reason why it would not lower but could not find a problem. After some thought I tried the knob that controls the lowering speed of the 3 pt and it allowed the mower to lower. I can't imagine how kicking this knob would cause it to turn enough to prevent the 3 point from lowering but that is the only thing I can think of that caused the problem. In 40 years of using a tractor I have never experienced this before.

In any event the good news is that I do not have a problem and learned what to look for if my 3 pt hitch does not lower in the future. Thought this might help others who may have the same issue.

That knob controls the speed the 3 pt hitch lowers, or if fully closed, locks the 3pt in place, preventing it from lowering. It can still raise at full speed until it reaches max height though.

This knob is also the most misunderstood control on a tractor. You'll see all kind of stuff said about it in the internet, but in reality, it only does the functions I described above.

Yep. I adjusted it to slow down the the lowering speed when I first received the tractor and it was working well. Only thing I can think of is I kicked the knob getting in and out of the tractor. It is hard to imagine I kicked it enough to fully close it because it is not easy to adjust by hand.
