Thoughts on this grapple from a local dealer?

Ok, time for some pics!

Do these look pretty or what?



Plus 25 1.5" snap rings:

Bulkhead thickness measurement, right around .297":

And body diameter measurement, right at 1.489":

Oh and I did the LD *connector-in-the-vise* trick and it worked beautifully! Simply push the male connector in, snaps right in! Pull the male connector out, disconnects easily! Two way connectors are the bomb!

A couple more updates:

I finally got off the pot and ordered the bulkhead mount from Brian. It will be interesting to see which he sees first: this post or my e-mail.

Secondly, I got a call first thing this morning from Construction Attachments. They got my e-mail with pics and they were on it like dogs on a bone. No question I got the wrong kit. They're putting together a package to fix it, no return of the first kit necessary. They did ask what I was using the 3rd function for and they were most interested to learn that I planned to add RR and that the RR valve would be in line with their kit and valve. They were pretty clear that for most uses their valve would work but not for something that used constant hydraulic flow like a backhoe or something like that. A couple cylinders adjusted every once in a while (like a TNT etc.), their valve would work fine.

Given that CA is owned by Ted Corriher's brother *of Everything Attachments fame*, I'm not the least bit surprised by their customer service.

So hopefully, I'll have everything by the end of this week and be ready to take it to the Farm Store for hose install by early next week.

Never saw anything on Brians website regarding that bulkhead mount.....is that something he is just making for you, or something he actually offers? (for future reference for others who may be interested)

LD, I asked Brian a couple weeks ago if he knew where I could find one and he replied back that he could build it for me and sent a couple pics. I'm sure he could or would do it for anyone since I'm pretty dang sure he isn't doing it just for me due to my sterling personality.....

What valve did you get from Baileys? If you got the same chief I did, There is no directions as to where the PB plug goes, but there is only 1 port it fits in. And I didn't mention it in my thread, but the PB plug was just a hair too long. When torqued in, it bound up the one spool on that side. No big deal, just shaved .010" off on the lathe. But could have easily been done with a file, grinder, belt sander etc. So just something to keep an eye out for. Same with any valve really, once all your ORB port adapters are installed, make sure all spools still operate smoothly. Which is why I install the fittings on the bench before mounting everything

Ld, looking at all your valve pics, this looks like the only one that showed the PB plug. Is the PB plug installed on the port that is right next to the #1 spool that has the float? See your pic from the other thread below.

I would *assume* P T N means P=pump T=Tank N=Next (power beyoNd)
But I would confirm that by hooking up an air supply to the P port and operating the valves and watching what happens when they are operated.

That picture dont show the plug.

that side of the valve is for pressure in. The plug on the side that you can see can simply be removed, and you can use THAT spot for pressure IN. and use the plug to plug the top hole where I have the pressure in hose currently.

The PB blug really isnt a "plug" rather something that looks like an adapter.

On the 3rd spool side of the valve.....there will be 3 ports/plugs. Any three can be used for tank if not using PB and the other two simply plugged.

If you want PB, the plug goes in one of the side ports, NOT the one on the face. And if you look down inside the port......there is only one place it will go. But I dont remember which one that was. And dont recall seeing P T N marks on my valve.

As James said, you can air test if in doubt. Put air at P, and it should come out T.......or out a work port if moving a lever.

With the PB plug installed, with air P there should never be air coming out of T......only PB.

And if operating a lever.......One of the work ports should open to T (to return fluid coming out of cylinder). Other work port would be connected to P
