TIG Torch Question

This puzzles me. TIG is done indoors in a heated shop.

Sure it is , unless your Tig welder weighs 800+ lbs and is the size of a refrigerator, like my idealarc Tig or some of the dialarcs are then it may have to live in an un heated and/or un insulated garage.

Maybe he has to walk outside to get his shop and then get some firewood burning in his wood stove to heat it up above numb levels. Yeah we are getting soft. Pretty sure blacksmiths didn’t complain. Ha ha.

Not even a wood burner? Why bother having a shop?

Summer. Might not get good winter shop time (I just switch to woodworking in the basement) but summer shop time will at least keep you from going crazy.

I've tried to live without shop space...I didn't like it.

Guess I’m spoiled. I have heat and running water + refrigerator equipped for unannounced shop/driveway parties. Gotta have a little fun in life, its not all about work.

I use to have a heated shop. Not any more. It's would be expensive to heat un insulated 50x80.
I do have running water, bathroom, etc,. Just not heat

The sun is up and is 35 deg right now. Should hit 45-48 today

I have a new shop, cant afford to insulate or finish the inside yet. I'm still working in it, had to change the oil in the horizontal bandsaw to 10 weight, was so cold the gear oil the previous owner put in would kick the motor overload.........

Heat is in the tools. 40 years of putting up high rises along the Hudson in a wide open building makes any time in a enclosed space feel like a day at the beach. Only time I run a space heater is when I am painting or staining. You could always snuggle up to your torch.:D:drink:
