Tiller for 1433

I went to the Massey Ferguson site and could not find a 1433 only 1533's.

what is the HP both gross and PTO?

I have been searching the site for a tiller also for my orange tractor 34 gross HP, 27.0 at the PTO. Many people are saying no matter what 5' or 6' you still have to make two passes. If I must make two passes I might as well go 6', is my thinking wrong?

1533 replaced the 1433, internally pretty darn similar
33 gross hp
27 PTO hp

5' tillers: $1200 to $2000 depending on brand. Definately get a slip clutch rather than a shear pin (more money, but worth it)

a 6' is goign to be pretty darn big on a 27pto tractor

They are definitly amazing. I have used a 5' King Kutter with my GC2300 and once is all it took to tear the ground up for planting. We have lots of clay in our soil and the only time I ran into a problem was when I hit one of the large roots we have here. Our property is part of an old nursery.

I did have to go slow. Sometimes I had to push on the reverse side of the hydro peddle to fight the tiller pushing me or it could stall the tractor (bitin' off more than it could chew).

MrSteve, thanks for the website! I haven't had a chance to look at it closely, but at a glance it looks good. It looks like I'll just have to plow and disc again this year unless I can find a used tiller that is not beat up beyond recognition! I have found that a good used tiller is hard to come by. Most are not sold until they are worn out. This is a personal record, the most replies to a thread that I started!

Thanks cowboy..... price isnt too bad considering the local shop wants 600 bucks for a used disk. I would personally rather have a tiller.

Is Woods the way to go on tillers?

Right now, I think the Carter and Carter Machinery has the best deals on top quality tillers. They are gear drive and heavy duty. From everyone that has bought one from them on TBN, it seems like even given the freight, they have beat most on price given the quality of their tiller. Mark Carter is a member here and can answer any questions you have about them.

the CR series by Agric
works fine, 60"

Remember to always break it up first with a scarifier of some type.
Don't use tillers to break virgin ground.

I looked at the CR and the MR on the website and was wondering if the CR would stand up to rocks. I grow rocks very well at my place. The biggest rocks are about softball sized. It doesn't matter how many I pick up, there are two more to take its place! I will look closer at the CR series, price looks right too.

It throws them out.
I always rip first (with the scarifier) before tilling, but you still find them.
it doesn't break anything (not yet anyway. ) but it makes pretty horrible noises when it hits one.
I live next to a river, just downstream from the gravel pit. I have "well drained" soil.

Thanks for the info about the tillers... I have them quoting me MR-160 & 175.

About not using tillers on vigin soil.... Would it be ok to just disk before tilling?? My grandpa-in-law has a disk I could borrow...
