Haaving a little problem with my tiller and hope someone has an idea. 4110 tractor pulling a 647 (4') tiller. Machines are working fine, but as I progress down the row, I get a porpuse effect leaving a washboard behind in the row. Any ideas what might be causing this....Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Is the ground you're tilling hard packed? If so, you may need to slow down. Since you using a relatively small (4') tiller, hard ground could be causing it to bounce up. If you're going too fast, it won't have time to chew it's way into the area it bounced over, creating your washboards. If the ground is soft, I've got no help for ya. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You might think I am nuts But In hard stuff I idel the tractor down so It don't bang the crap out of the tiller. This keeps the tiller from jumping up and down.

If the soil is heavy with sod or just plain hard, I take two passes. First one with the leveler door up and the depth set higher, second pass depth is deeper and door is down. comes out like goose down.........
