That was my first impression too on seeing the latest pics. Maybe the light colored drywall. How and what color are you going to finish the walls?

Sheetrock made a huge difference. The timbers really stand out now. Not sure why but you guys are correct. It also looks bigger in person and not just in the pics. We plan to keep the paint a lighter color. Something in a beige but so many variations we need to get a few test samples up this week.

I'm no expert but I am thinking a warm tone to go along with the natural wood. I am ssuming your lighting will be warm as well to give it a rustic feel rather than a sanitary/fluorescent feel. That said, white always works at weddings! :D. I can see this one a tough decision.

I'm thinking it needs to be a beige that is more on the brown side of the palette as opposed to yellow but at the same time I don't want to get too dark. Lighting will be 3,000k bulbs for all of the in ceiling lights, wall sconces, etc. That is what we have at the house and really like it. Not as yellow as a 2,200 or so light but still has a nice warm feel to it.

I think you are on the right track.

Plus didn't you said something about washing the walls with colored lights to match the wedding colors? Jon

Yes. Having the timber set in front of the existing steel building posts is actually going to work out really well for the colored lighting. I didn't know if having the timbers set out was going to look odd in the design however it is not even noticeable due to the size of the timbers. It also leaves us with room behind the connecting purlins next to the walls. I have about 6-7" of space that will be a perfect spot for tucking colored dmx controlled lighting up behind the timbers for lighting walls up.

Entry and patio doors along with frames came in today and turned out really nice. Can't say enough about how these look in person. Color is the same on both doors just looks different from my cell phone pics. The set of patio doors will go on the end wall where the garage door used to be. They will be framed each side by the barn doors we picked up at auction. The solid door goes in the main entry with the frame in the pic. This one is 4'x8' with 20" sidelights. Should match the scale of the timber entry well.

Don't be surprised if one day the outfit that produces the "Vikings" TV show asks to lease your building for their "Great House" scenes. You have built a beautiful venue. Congrats.
