Time For A New Kitchen Faucet. Recommendations?

We have high mineral content in our water. After just a few years, any of the old-style gate shutoff valves are useless. If you can even get the stem to turn, both the disk and the seats have enough mineral build-up to prevent good closure. Sometimes, IF you can get the stem to turn without it or the handle twisting off, you can open and close the valve several times and buff it enough to get just enough of a seal to change out a countertop valve set without having a flood.

I think ALL valves in your house should be "exercised" on a regular basis...if you do that you will be in a small minority but will avoid the "crisis" down the road.

I tend to stick with Moen...figure sooner or later they will have fully transitioned to a replacement cartridge that will fit everything and I only need to keep one on hand (working at my MIL's house recently with an older Delta...I was staring at 3 possible solutions to fix a leaking shower valve, none of them cheap). Now the downside to that is "buy it for looks, buy it for life" means you get free service parts from Moen (was a time you got them ONLY from Moen meaning you had to wait for the mail...not good).<snip>

Well just tried to get what I thought would be a replacement package for the o-ring and screen inside my Moen faucet (circa 1990).

First tried on line - out of production.
So I got my sweet talking SWMBO to call them up and they are shipping a replacement free.
They don't have the o-ring and screen separate - it's a $20 "kit" if your not the original owner.
