Timing a Kioti CK20S from crank

Its possible u have it off.. but the smoke should tell u THAT..??
I've seen some of the smaller engines w/ inj. pumps like yours that have "2 marks" on the front "PULLEY"..{removable pulley}
1 for engine "TDC" & the other for "Inj. Pump".. Both lines about a 1/2" apart..{probably 1 tooth}

Sorry for my ignorance on these type systems I'm used to old Massey 35 diesel and old gas tractors. So it takes me some time to understand why these type diesel tractors are this complicated. But I'll get if you can bear with me

I sent you a PM a week or so ago, I can send you a pdf of the engine disassembly and assembly, but his might give you what you want.

I've been thinking about it and it must be advanced a little to much on timing. The tractor starts and runs idles high and has no power so I think its advanced in timing to far gonna back the crank timing a tooth or two and see if that helps if I can ever get the time. I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get it done. Thanks for the help. Stick with me I'm in to deep to just do it without advice. Thanks for the help so far. And for the advice I'm gonna need if this don't work.

I don't know exactly where it's located bit I'd at least check crank timing using the marks on the flywheel and the timing window on the bell housing. Without the marks on the crank gear that's probably the only way to be sure.

There is a flywheel timing mark window on side of the flywheel housing, I "think" it is on the RHS on CK20. If equiped with a loader the loader mounting frame covers the window and must come off. The front gears/marks align crank, cam, & injection pump to Top Dead Center. Fuel injection timing is done via gasket thickness of gasket between the pump assembly and the governor housing.
Moving the crank gear 1 tooth without verifying TDC mark on the flywheel could very well result in piston to valve contact, damaging valves &/or piston.

I've looked for marks on flywheel and we've scraped and cleaned for hours on the flywheel. But with. The rust and the pitting on it we can find any marks there either I'm sure if I took the motor out I could sandblast the flywheel but as it is there's no way

Also I use a small wire and remove the valve cover to time the tractor through the #1 injector hole so I don't damage anything

As a matter of technique. it is hard to discern exact TDC directly from piston position. It's more accurate to feel (and mark) a fixed point before and after TDC. For example where the piston is 1/2 inch below TDC before and after TDC. Then split the difference. Just be aware of the slop in the crank and wrist pin and take both measurements with the slop taken out or not.
