For three days I have been pulling cattails, by hand, from my pond. Yesterday, my neighbor thought he'd help and brought his backhoe over and tried to reach the areas I couldn't get by hand. What it turned out to be was a muck digging exercise rather than a cattail party because the cattails were beyond the reach of the backhoe.
Today while moving the dirt piles left by the backhoe, I tipped my tractor into the pond. What a shock. Was grabbing the muck parallel to the embankment. Pond is on the right. Right front tire sinks in the muck. Tractor starts to tip. Tractor falls into pond at about 110 to 120 degrees. I jumped off. Frankly, I am glad I didn't have seatbelts on, for I think I could be dead if I did. I think that I had plenty of time to judge this matter and seatbelts would have impeded natural or better judgment.
Finally, thank you John Deere for building all those safty features into my tractor. The engine immediately stopped upon my jumping. Furthermore after pulling this tractor out of my pond with my pickup after being nearly upside down (halfway in water) for a half hour, the baby started up with what felt like less than a second!
Be careful my friends , always think twice!
Yes, I thought about getting a picture. Didn't have time though, please think about what you would do!
