Tire Pressure (liquid filled)

Probably a dumb question, but I'm assuming that tires filled with liquid (glycol in my case, I think) should be pressurized same as unfilled tires. The reason I ask is my rear tires, which are liquid-filled, only had about 5 psi but the book says it should be 20 psi. I suspect the air volume was so small that even slow gas migration through the rubber allowed pressure to drop to 5 psi. What say you guys who have real experience?

I run 16 lbs in 14.9-28" Ag tires loaded with winsheild washer fluid. With 55 gallons in each tire there isn't much air volume left. I top off air pressure probably 2-3 times a year.

I thought I read somewhere there is a special air gauge for fluid filled tires, you might want to check that out. I would do it, but I'm on my phone, pain in the butt to search and have a reply on stand by.

Its kinda this way for me. I like a softer ride, I want the tire bars to touch the surface ... too low is bad ... so i kinda shoot from the hip ... a little more or less and I say thats good right there.

Even when filled, the tires would take the same pressure as you normally would use. If filled to the maximum, they would be close to 75% liquid and 25% air. You may have a faster loss as you mentioned. When you check or add air, make sure the valve stems are at the top. This should keep any of your glycol out of the stem and air gauge. When I used sodium chloride, it was a killer to both.

To reply to my own post (now that I am on a computer).
Air gauge for filled tires... Only thing special about it, it's designed to hold up to the salts that could be in the tire (down here we just use water, but rust or salts same thing when it comes to the inners of the gauge).
