Traction Tire Swap - R-14 Versa Turf In - R-4 Out

I figured you got it from both lakes. I haven't been to Lockport in 20-25 yrs. Thanks for the info on the R-4's. Before I bought the GC I asked some friends who have tractors for decades about the R-4 and turf tires and both suggested I get the turfs (they were unaware of the new R-14 tires). When I spoke to the Massey salesman and asked him about which tires would be better for snow removal, he said the R-4's would be fine. He said the 1723 I was buying was on the lot and only came with the R-4's, so if I wanted to put other tires on I would have to buy them, but I would still keep the R-4's as they would not buy, nor credit me for the tires. I had done some research on tires here at TBN, but wasn't aware of the R-14's then and saw comments/threads with some people saying R-4's were fine in the snow, & others saying not so much.

In the end, I decided not to chance it as your experience shows with in the winter conditions being identical to mine, so thanks!

Those tires appear like they would be a good cross between turfs and R4s! I’m jealous.

Last May I picked up my front blower from Westfield NY. Left the house (eastern PA)in shorts, t short and flip flops. Got
To the guys house and it was snowing and frigid....lol

Hube2, do you know what brand/model your R1s are?

I started this thread a while back discussing R1 aggressiveness. Those are R14s look real interesting compared to some R1s I've seen.

I don't know what brand they are but they look identical to the tires on the GC1723E in the image you posted. I will try look at the brand the next time I go out, probably tomorrow because I just got in a shipment of hyrdo oil that's sitting in the kitchen and if I don't get it out of there before Thursday my wife will not be happy.

What's the carcass of an R14 made from. Is it from a R-4 (industrial) tire or is it from an R-3 (turf)? If the carcass of the tire is from a turf tire I would be interested but if it's from an R-4 my interest would cool quite a bit.

I have no idea about the carcass. The Carlisle website shows it is a radial tire, but not what the foundation is.

I was thinking it was based on an R4, but the smaller sized tires are only a 4 ply. So, I haven稚 a clue which it is based off from.
Titan R14T’s are all six ply.
Following along, because I need to decide what to run in the winter. This year I will be fine, I purchased my 1723e with turf tires. My snow removal areas are all flat. So with turfs and 4wd available, I should be fine.
As I told the salesman, and told him he should let AGCO know, if R14T’s, Versa Turfs, Nokians, or the Galaxy Garden Pro tires were an option, I would of gotten them even if there was an upcharge.

I just watched a comparison video of tires that included 5 types. The Versa Turfs are radial tires, none of the others are. Actually looked into this a lot after seeing this discussion. Wen I need new tires, or maybe before I need new tires, I will be getting these.

I agree with you about tire choices because if any of the tires you mentioned were available I would have gotten one of them too. Mine came with R-4's and the salesman said if I wanted any other tire then I would have to purchase it. He said they wouldn't give me any credit towards another tire and I would just keep the R-4's and have two sets of tires.

Seems like Agco is behind the curve on this compared to Kubota, JD and a couple of others.

hube2 - The video link you showed was the deciding factor in my decision to get the Versa Turfs. Since he is up north in Michigan and uses them in snow, it helped me watching someone with real world experience.
