I was just over on that early retirement site Redbug linked for us. I read a long-winded thread about a lady trying to cut her monthly costs from $15000 to $3000. Just reading what she paid for internet, phone and TV, I didn't give her a chance of doing it. After seven pages of back and forth, she said she had even fired her gardener. Yes that's right, she fired her gardener. So if any of you guys are just a little short on your figures, I know it is a big hardship, but you should consider letting the gardener go.

I guess I have been doing it wrong all this time.

But the butler and the maid refuse to tend the garden!

Here it is, Travelover.

Burn Out-Finances Longest intro in History? - Early Retirement & Financial Independence Community

This was one of the first threads I had read, and the lady was a drama queen. When she was given good advice, she would get emotional. I thought it was funny that she had gone to such incredible lengths as to fire the gardener.[irony alert]

I'm new to that site, but it has lots of good advice/smart folks. And they ask you to list all your assets, not just your tractors.

No, I'm at work right now. I work at a small private, not for profit community center. We do lots of weddings, birthday parties, showers and family reunions. The pay isn't great, but to see some of the fringies, look at my post over on Good Morning!!!

Thanks, I forgot about that one. We get a few screwballs through every now and then and I kinda discounted her as a troll or a nut job.

Hey! I'm in the Class of 2014! We also have been skimping, saving and investing. We have had everything paid off for quite a few years, and I simply can hardly wait!
The Class of 2014 - Early Retirement & Financial Independence Community

Way to go!!! My wife has three and a half years to go, but I have 13 to 15. But my job is so stress free, I have to go to work to unwind. Since I work nights and weekends, I have my weekdays to myself. That lets me putter around the house like I'm retired, then I go into the office every afternoon. I do better when I have somewhere to go. Not sure if ER is for me.

Several people thought she was a troll. [but not the mods] There was a few days of real intense back and forth, then four months of silence. When she posted again, she was a changed woman, and had learned to LBYM. It did smell fishy.
