does anyone know where you can get rims and tires to fit pt425, other than getting them from pt. Has anyone ever tried to put dual wheels all way round on the pt425? The reason I'm asking, I was brush hogging the other day trying to clear off a place in the lower end of my bottom, so i could put ditches to drain a low spot . Iwent out in it about 50 foot when it sunk up all the way to the bottom of the pt frame. I was thinking that with dual wheeles allway around that it would give it more footprint making it less apt to sink up and also giving more traction. To get it back out I tried steering it back and forth, didn't work. tried bowing it down and lifting front wheeles up and slew it over, I put boards under it , nothing worked sohooked atow rope to it and to my truck to help snatch it out. I may have to dig ditches out as far as I can and let it dry up some then dig out farther as it dries up.

Don't know about rims but I got the Titan MultiTrac tires from Diprima Tire. At the time they were $32 a pop or $25 for tires that were fine but had some blemishes on the sidewall. I got a few of the $25 ones and they were fine....

i don't think you can do it, i just wanted to reverse the rims to widen the track and terry said the wheel motors would not stand the load. so duels would be ever more load on the wheel motor bearings /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

There are some pictures of the older units of the same size with dual tires, but the tires are much skinnier than the ones on the current models. From everything I've read here on TBN and speaking with folks at Power Trac, Johara is correct. They don't recommend duals on the 400 series tractors because the wheel motors can't take it.

That must be some extremely soft, wet soil. Do your feet sink into it when you walk on it?

Sounds like you hit the one place where bar tires are clearly superior. On the 1845, Sedgewood reports pulling a truck out of the mud with his bars. On mine, I have sunk it to the pan with turfs, but was able to get out by keeping the wheels turning and articulating back and forth to the stops over and over. It maybe only moved an inch each time, but gradually came out. Where there are obstacles, I have also had to go the towrope route.
Since I'm no longer using mine on the lawn, and after a year I am getting fairly frequent punctures, my next set may be bar treads.
There are a number of tire sources on the net. I hit them by searching for the tire size. I haven't found a source for wheels, and would like to hear if anyone knows of one.

i know you can buy bar tires at tsc. myself if you need traction get a couple of sets of tire chains. they will do better than any bar tread tire.

HI,
WHAT SIZE TIRE AND RIM DOES YOUR PT HAVE. IF IT USES A 26X12X12 TIRE, I HAD A WHEEL AND RIM COMPANY MAKE ME UP A SET OF HEAVY DUTY RIMS. THEY SHOULD HAVE THE ORDER ON FILE IN CASE I WANTED ANOTHER SET. THE CENTER SECTION IS MADE FROM 3/8 STEEL. I HAVE FOUND LOTS OF TIRES ON EBAY. I NOW HAVE 4 SPARE SETS. MY PT IS A 1445 USING LUG TIRES. IF YOU NEED MORE DATA, LET ME KNOW.

Chains over turfs certainly would be the most flexible package, but on the 1845 there's a problem with brake clearance.

The 1845 does use 26-12-12 tires. If I decide to go with new rims, I'll let you know. (Unless I find some cheap.) I plan to do some offset measurements, etc. and then really do a web search. I assume PT buys them off the shelf, so all we really need to do is find the shelf.

HI CHARLIE

I HAVE SEEN MANY OF THESE RIMS, BUT THE OFFSET WAS WRONG, AND MOST ARE PRESSED OR STAMPED STEEL. NOT ONLY DO THE LUG PATERN HAVE TO BE CORRECT BUT THE CENTER HOLE HAS TO MATCH. I BELIEVE DITCH WITCH HAS A CLOSE MATCH
BUT EXPENSIVE. THE TIRES USUALLY RUN AROUND $45 TO $65 ON EBAY. J.J.
