Tires...black, round, hold air...so how can you have a question about those

Tires are a hot button issue right now.

If you bought the tractor for personal, nonbusiness use around your home... you could make a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

It will not work if there is business use.

As with anything... document everything.

I've done a fair amount of arbitrations and the successful consumers always had dates, times and names.

Sometimes it is as simple as showing up with the complaint forms and asking the Dealer to help you fill them out... one sure way to get everyone on the same page.

Did you inspect the tractor before the purchase? Were the tires not the same then?

You have responsibility as a buyer too!

This might be the most ridiculous post I've seen in a long time.

You've already bought it and brought it home, so no use in anyone chiding you for not "inspecting" a new tractor before bringing it home. I have three words for you; warranty, warranty, warranty. The dealer may not even have noticed it, but he should have no problem helping you get those replaced under the warranty. Good luck.

I'm in the tire business and NFW would I accept those tires on any new piece of equipment/tractor/vehicle I bought. Call the dealer and talk to them about it and if they say that they can't/won't call that 800 number on the tire and pitch your ***** with them. In reality it could be a combination of things like where the tires were stored, if they sat flat like someone mention etc, but bottom line you bought it "as new" and shouldn't accept dry rotted tires. More than likely you will own it many years and the tires should last a good long time in both hours and years IF they're a high quality brand. I've owned and seen many tires that were 20-30 years old and still looked good but you can take it to the bank they were American made name brand tires and probably didn't sit in the sun all those years either.
Al
PS: the tire warranty is not the Kubota dealers responsibilty it's the tire manufactures but any good dealer will get involved trying to get it handled for you most of the time,

Many here wish to site the buyer for not performing a thorough inspection prior to acceptance...
I have to disagree, when something is new, it is all new, do we now need to hire a mechanical inspector prior to accepting a new vehicle....
I doubt half of those that suggested this don't even check their air pressure, much less look at the tires before it comes off the truck....
That 8k that's lost when something leaves the lot, is the 8K that's goes into the assurances its a new vehicle.. not saying one should not look it over, but should we also return it if the air pressure is less then the recommended amount? WTF... one has to have faith in the dealer to do the right thing, this is not a manufacturing flaw, so with any luck, it just got by the dealer and he also failed to see it...

I expect tires in new condition if not in fact new, so I would expect the dealer to replace the tires. My BX2660 had a leaking front tire nd my dealer replaced tire and wheel twice until I got the right one.

I think before anyone goes off the deep end see what the Dealer does about this.

A full set of brand new wheels and tires for that BX25 is only $450 through Whole Goods.

The dealer can afford to swap these out for you. These tractors do indeed come without wheels, in a crate and the dealer can put on the tire of the customer's choice. Those tires aren't fresh and they'd be replaced, if it were mine.

No doubt, New tires, and at no cost whatsoever to you.
Some posters here seem to be confused with used private sale "as is" laws.

There's at least two things going on here -
1. From reading on this board for almost 5 years it seems that "new" tractors may sit for several years on the lot and still are generally sold as "new". They are not as attached to "model years" as cars and trucks are.

2. Many of us (if not all) have bought something and overlooked some factor before we brought it home. By then it's ours. If the OP thought he looked at tires they were either cracked/dry rotted or not at that time. He should complain to the dealer but unless he thinks the dealer switched tires it's what he bought.

I agree that the tires should not look like that. Those tires look like the are old and starting to dry rot. With that said I am siding with Murphy1244.
Bring your pictures of the tires to the dealer and ask them what can they do about the tires. See what they have to say and then go from there.
The tires are expensive but the dealer should be willing to replace the bad ones.
