TLB for home construction and 8 acres

The total price for an L-39 is just the down payment to a neurosurgeon for back surgery (that's why the machine is such a steal)!!!! I'm much more happier with our L-39... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Skypup,

Since I got my L39 pressure set correct, that size stump could be dug out with the BT1000 hoe, but I bet it would take me a while.

The Neurosurgeon sure is expensive. Thank God I have insurance, still what I spent out of pocket I could have bought some nice implements for the L39

I figured out why Kubota has to put an a relatively weak loader on these tractors compared to a dedicated TLB. The Lawyers would be all over Kubota for designing a loader that the careless among us could flip over easily the tractor without the BH attached. So we have to give up 1000 Lbs of bucket capacity to protect us from idiots among ourselves.

The L39 really could use a heavier front axle and a heavier duty loader. The actual additional cost would be relatively small considering the cost of the L39, at least till the first lawsuit.

I am rethinking my tractor purchase yet again... The L39 is too expensive for me and may not be able to handle the huge boulders of New Hampshire. I plan to hire an excavator to prepare the driveway and septic system, so I am looking for a tractor to backfill and grade as well as snowblow the 300' driveway, and skid logs out of the woods. I am thinking of the B series, such as B7800, B7610, B7510, etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Eric

You may have some idea on how I tortured myself over a tractor purchase. New vs. used? If tractor depreciated like cars, I would have bought used. What type. That's a tough one! I have an L39 and a 1980's B7200. The B7200 is beefed up and maxed out. This size machine is good for 2-3 Acres.

The 7610/7800 type is a nice machine but a lightweight also.

I think you might be happier with a heavier 30ish hp machine. Remeber those boulders. The L39 can lift over a ton, and the hoe can do two or more ton rocks pushing it a bit. The machine can move two ton rocks.

The outstanding feature of the L39 is the BT-1000 Hoe.

If you can live hiring out your hoe work, you don't need the L-39

The L-39 is a Swiss army knife/ Gerber type tool. It certainly has its limitations, but does a lot ok. Much better than no tool at all.

Maybe I would have been better off buying a old track loader w/ 4 way bucket and an old excavator, fix them up, use them , finish building the farm, sell the beasts off and get a grand L or something.

Nah, sounds like too much work. Besides, I get attached to stuff and would want to keep the old machines just in case.
This is where an L39 makes sense from the get go.

I'm pleased with my loader at this point. It's a small TLB, but extremely utility oriented. The hoe is out of this world. Don't think I could ever go back to a CUT. It's not supposed to provide large TLB or excavator like peformance. It's just a little guy with big muscles. It's just perfect for my property and needs.

I've had good luck thus far with my L48TLB.
It certainly isn't a bulldozer but I haven't yet
encountered a stump which I could not extract.

Actually given the size of the root balls I've been
yanking out the real problem is keeping a level
grade so as not to have the machine swallowed
up by the resulting moonscape.
